I saw one in Montreal back in 1994. It was brought into Canada for display purposes at an upscale car dealer. The salesman said it would be there for only three months (max time period allowed). I'm sure though on quiet, early Sunday mornings they would take it for a spin around the block (it had dealer trade plates on it).

It is one bitchin' car (IMHO, way better than the current 9-whatever Turbo).

There is a silver 959 currently for sale at www.huntingridgemotors.com, located in Bedford NY. No price was listed but it says in the description "the ultimate piece of driveway jewelry".

>>So what happens when next year's inspection indicates >2500 miles driven?<<

Honestly, I have never once seen it happen. 99% of cases, neither the officials or the owner keep a written record of the miles travelled.

But in some instances where they do find out... and are able to prove it (I'm assuming the owner would take it to court), then yes... you get a nice $200,000+ paper weight.

So what happens when next year's inspection indicates >2500 miles driven? Do they deny the registration and come take it away from you?

>>Whats a very good price?<<

I've seen some go for $150,000, and I've seen some go for as much at $400,000. I was looking at one right now that would be about $210,000 to bring it in.

That's correct - they can not be made 100% street legal. That's where the "Show and Display" title comes in handy. Once they are alterned by G&K Automotive (in Cali), they can be registered as a show car. This title allows them to be driven on the street for 2500 miles per year.

This is similar to some titles that are given to old classic cars. My father has his TR6 registered under a similar title (to save on insurance), and only pays a few hundred a year.

There's more than 2. The number is actually about 15.

I used to import them last year. G&K in Cali does the conversions on them. I can still get them for a VERY good price if anyone is interested.

Chances are you guys know of Miller Motorcars in Greenwhich- they've had a Porsche 959 in their service station for the past month or two- it was there today, but who knows how long it will stay... If you haven't seen one before, its definetly worth the ride there- check it out!
