Thanks Guy! I am checking on the net and did find some useful web sites on the W113. Will check out this white one and have a test drive probably on this weekend.

Ming the 280 sl is a great car. My fathers boss had one as I was growing up and occasionaly my dad would take it home and we would go for a blast in it. I almost bought it from the family but they ended up trading it in. It was the one that got away 69 280sl one owner 39k orig miles all orig. and mint. Anyways from what I know of these cars they are very strong and durable but are like say a 308 in the fact that you will end up paying out twice what the car is worth if you get one needing restoration. I would say you could get a good example 280sl for 20-25k. Good luck.

Ming,

I have the book "Original Mercedes SL" which contains a wealth of information on all of the SLs but especially on the 230/250/280 models. It also has a section on buying and restoring and what to look out for. There is too much info to post it all here. I suggest you look into getting this book. If you can't find it locally, here is the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1870979664/qid=1043255516/sr=11-1/ref=sr_11_1/104-7377977-4778324.

Hi Omar,

190SL is awesome but they are all in manual and they are bit over-priced as the following one is asking for US$50K!!

Cheers,

Ming, why not a 190SL Roadster? Since they are tiny they are easier to park and drive around the city in, I guess....but really I just love the SL's styling...afforadble gullwing without the wings :-)

Hi William,

Tx. for your input. Anything I should be looking on this particular model like soft top, rust or gearbox? I reckon the engine should not be too difficult to take care of.

Tx. again!

My shop restored a 1967 250 SL. The W113's are so nice. I would think that the right hand steering cars would bring more money, very hard to find in good condition. I've been told that some W113 may jump up to $30,000 or more US within a couple of years.

Good Luck

Hi Guys,

I miss the good old feeling of driving a Topless car just for fun and I love the style of the classic Merc. 280SL and actually I almost bought one 8 years ago.

Any comments?

1969 Mercedes 280SL Automatc, power steering, power windows, White exterior with Black interior.
Dealer is asking for US$18k (I am locating in HK so US price reference is probably invalid),

Cheers,
