willie: i think that's a brilliant idea. I would assume that you'd want some Playboy bunnies to act as stage props, in keeping with an all-American theme, yes?

I missed it, but as I figure I didn't miss a damn thing. I heard on CNN how much of an ass Micheal Moore made of himself during his winning speech. What a jackass. If only Charlton Heston could just get one shot to make it count.

The Oscars are a neon sign telling us how screwed up this societies priorities are. I agree with Tom that there should be awards for teachers, doctors, firemen, cops, charitable workers etc. Actors are just aping what these Real great people did and the real heroes get squat while these Prima Donnas get $Millions

Why dont we organiza something like that ? Wheres Bill Hart ? He'd know how to do this

Some of our "great american hereos" have been like that. One of the military guys that the movie Black Hawk Down portrayed raped his own daughter. Yeah, these are the type of people I want representing America overseas.

Polanski loaded up a 12 year-old with drugs and sexually assaulted her and he gets a standing ovation. Yea, these are the people we should listen too. For those unfamiliar with the Polanski story, check out thesmokinggun.com

Annual Tittie Parade aside, watching the Oscars is about as much fun as watching two dogs in a pissing match at the local fireplug. At least the dogs don't berate you with radical politics. Probably because they are more intelligent than the average actor.

Hollywood trashed Bush for going after Saddam and his torturers and rapists, but venerated admitted child molester Roman Polanski with a Best Director Oscar. You gotta love it.

OSCAR LOWEST-RATED IN HISTORY
ABC'S AIRING OF OSCARS PLUNGES TO 25.4 RATING/37 SHARE, ACCORDING TO OVERNIGHTS, DOWN FROM LAST YEAR'S RECORD-LOW SCORE OF 29.1/47. UNBELIEVABLY, LAST MONTH'S 'JOE MILLIONAIRE' REACHED HIGHER SHARES IN SOME MARKETS, DEMOS THAN OSCARS. FINAL RATINGS AVAILABLE LATER. CONTROVERSIAL AIRING OF SHOW AT HEIGHT OF WAR EXPERIENCED NIELSEN STRESS ON NEARLY EVERY LEVEL. 'IT WAS A DIFFICULT SITUATION... WE ARE GLAD IT IS BEHIND US,' SAID TOP NETWORK SOURCE... MORE...

Have you ever noticed that movies such as Lord of the Rings, Blackhawk Down, We Were Soldiers and other such "action" movies draw large crowds and Hollywood loves to do them for the revenue they produce but then they go and protest the war "because there could be collateral damage"?

Portray mass carnage and portray it so that the audience is almost compelled to stand and cheer for the liberators and then want to hiss and boo and disassociate themselves in the real world from our actions of trying to liberate a severely abused country. Sure looks like hypocracy on the part of Hollywood to me.

If they want to make money off it, they should support what they portray. If they want to protest it, do not make movies glorifying it. And Hollywood talks about the oil. How about the $$$$$$$$$$$ for action movies Hollywood??

When a musical wins best picture, it's time to give up. JMHO, but the Lord of the Rings was robbed. I remember sitting in that movie thinking "This is what a movie should be".

you have to love hollywood - many of them bash the war and the president but then at the same time they give an award to an admitted child molester - roman polanski. "Roman is unable to be with us tonight because he is a fugutive from the US government" give me a break

There is something about "free" that makes even the wealthiest people line up; having been to many of these celebrity bashes, it is not suprising to witness people complaining about "getting theirs." Same psychology seems to apply to food: i think of it as the "brunch" mentality. You wouldn't believe how many celebs in Hollywood show up for that meal at the 4 Seasons on Sunday.

Is it just me or do we see a trend?

Oscars are no longer a contest. It seems to be a second quarter marketing tool to prop up slow sales of serious movies.

At first I couldn't figure out why they only talked about movies that are in theaters or just ran in the last 2 months.

All the good block-buster movies come out Thanksgiving, Christmans and summer vaction anyway.

And whats with voting or lobbying for votes. Spending cash to get the Oscar so your Dull Drama about people with problems gets a second life and twice the box office it got the first time everyone missed it.

Maybe its just me, but when I was a kid the Oscars were insteresting. Not any more, now just business.

I don't think the masterbation of celebrities is really neccasary when all they do say repeat lines that sombody else wrote for them. How about an awards show for people who save lives? Doctors, The people who fought in the great wars for the freedoms we all have. How about the guy who is slaving away in lab somwere trying to come-up with a cure for cancer? What about the battle that is being fought right now with your own troops in Iraq? To me hollywood is just a self gratifing indusrty and they look for any reason to justify their total lack of importance. Actors are over paid, over rated, spoiled little brats. How else can you explain a $20,000 goodie bag that each actor gets just for going to the show. Why on earth do these people who make 20 mill a movie need a goodie bag or $20,000 for free, when there are people right outside the doors that can barely put food on the table? It makes me sick to my stomach. Pretty soon they'll have an awards show for the best fart by an actor.

Suprised nobody else started this topic...

So who are your predictions for all the big awards?

On a side note, if I were going to the Academy Awards (I may in a few years with my brother) I would not pull up in another limo. I would either take a Ferrari or if I really wanted to be creative, a Golf Cart. Some guy pulled up in a taxi earlier today...I thought that was funny :-)
