so true!

that is all I am asking people to do as well. Do not eat everyting what is put in front of you. Question your own government and everybody around you. See the big picture and why certain things are done.

You will be amazed.

I personally love to watch BBC and DW-TV for the two 30m slots they have on our cable.

All I can say is that both the pro-US (CNN, Fox, ABC, other American-owned networks and to a certain extent BBC) and pro-Iraq (Al-Jazeerah) are both guilty of being propaganda tools for both sides.

Just as how the pro-US networks only present the US side of the story, the pro-Iraq network also present just one side of the story. I always take everything from both types of coverage with a grain of salt.

hell no they wont do that Ross. I think reporting the truth is against their code of ethics.

All I can say is I hope some journalist have video of them doing this that can be shown to the world so everyone knows that this is going on.

i wonder if al jazirah will report about the iraqi troops shooting those iraqi civilians trying to flee basra. should make for interesting commentary in the arab world if they ahd the nads to do it. but they won't since they want to continue to broadcast from downtown baghdad.

Yep you are right Bill. Whoever hacked the sites just performed a redirect. They did it to both sites and let the re-direct point to a page that said "Let Freedom Ring" and had the American flag.

I thought the Al Jazerra web site was in Arabic, and that they were launching an English site only recently, which coincided with hacks to both.

IP: 137.224.10.103 Port: 80 are from a proxy in the netherlands that you can use to watch Iraqi Satallite TV sometimes as well and see the propaganda that is being broadcast there.

I dont have the exact site with me here at work but I can get it for you later at home. Its something like http://www.dsltv.nl/ and you just have to click on the live feed after setting your proxy. Like I said this is very hit and miss depending on the bandwidth capabilities of the proxy you are hitting. Sometimes you just lose the stream or can even get it.

http://www.publicproxyservers.com/index.html is a good place to get Proxy IPs from.

On IE6 you go to Tools->Internet Options->Connections Tab->LAN settings button to enter the new proxy IP and port

Art all you have to do is search on the web (google for example) and find a public proxy. Go into internet explorer and set that proxy along with the port number (something like 8080 in most cases). Then just go off and hit their webpage, their machines see you as having your request originating from the region where the proxy is located.

Be forwarned though, you will be moving back to dialup or slower speeds cause you are travering a lot of connections instead of just going to your usual local proxy. Make sure you set the configuration back in your browser when you are done because otherwise your internet access will be very painful, some sites in the US block IPs from other countries as well.

Ernesto you are 100% right there is no hidding what is going on in the war...sh*t there are probably as many cameras and news reporters over there as there are tanks.

yep they just blocked their IP, I can get to them from a public proxy in Russia. They blocked their IP so that hackers in the US couldnt target them....guess they didnt do to good of a job. :P

John:

You've apparently got more internet skills than I. If you figure out how to get into that site, can you give me directions on how?

Thanks,

Art

If I remember correctly www.al-jazirah.com/ themselves have restricted access from US based IPs to their servers. So before you get your lawsuit panties all fired up Art let me take a minute and spoof my ip to be from some where else and see what happens.

Al Jazeera is a terrorist sympathizing news network.

I don't see how the gov't can lie about the war, as there are journalists embedded with almost all units deployed in Iraq.

We are doing the right thing over there, something that should have been done A LONG TIME AGO.

That site is a news site, whose location is Qatar, one of our allies. If that government didn't authorize this, then we have attacked one of our allies' businesses.

The big question is why? I see that we have to add another 100k in troops. Why? What is going on that we are apparently not allowed to see?

This entire thing, in addition to being illegal, looks to be the product of poor planning, delusional hopes, and just plain stupidity.

I surely hope I'm wrong, but fear I'm not.

They broadcast an interview with one of our major generals today - the one who generally appears with Secretary of Defense, Rumsfeld, for our press inquistions. Can't think of his name at the moment.

They hacked into the website of Al Jazera (sp?) and put a huge US flag on the main page.

Now that is clever!!!
