once again, mercedes is eating bmw's lunch. the new e class is beautiful compared to this bimmer. i used to be a huge bmw fan when i owned the m5, but recently they have lost the design plot - thx chris bangle.

Look for a slightly used M5, I bet you could find one with 20k miles for under 60k.

I was talking about the GS400, not the 300. You can also look at the GS430, nice car.

msrp for the car w/ all the options we wanted was 63. They had a M5 in the showroom, sticker was 76, and i dont think M5's sell for much less than sticker. M5's are too extreme.
PS- i dislike the GS emensely. The GS300 couoldnt hold a candle to the 540 sport imo. Ray Catena quoted us about 41 for a GS300. it was a nice car, but wasnt close to the bimmer.

59k for a 540i sport is alot considering you can get a slightly used M5 for 60k.

540i sport should hit 60 in about 5.5.

A buddy and I, are testdriving a 540i (6spd) with the M-package on Tuesday. Can anyone supply some performance information, so I can know the cars limits when I get into it a little bit :-) thanks

westchester BMW quoted a 540 sport with nav for $59k, a equally equipped 530i sport w/o nav (its just an $1800 toy that we will use like once) was quoted at 49. i never test drove the 530i though, but if it handles as well as the 540 sport then im ok with it. It doenst lok as good as the 540 sport though because the sport package on the 530 doenst include a new front fascia. they are giving us a pretty good deal on both, not sure which one though yet

Good choice on the car Tim. My cousin has a 540i sport in stick which he absolutely loves. Can't be that different from the 530i.

The new Chris Bangle designs are really the pits.

Yep, I LOVE my 530i Sport! And it pains me to think that if I don't snatch up an '03 soon, then I may be forced to look again at the MB E-class :-(

BMW got so much grief for the current 7 series (rear end), they're completely changing the design. They say it will be BMW's fastest change of design ever. Sorry Neb.

What did they do, steal the designer from Nissan? What a POS! Only saving grace is that it probably works better than the prior 5 series.

I like it.

Everyone shuns the new stuff, regardless of the manufacturer.

"I hate it! It's DIFFERENT!"

Give it two years. You guys will look at the current 5 on the road and think, "Wow, that looks old."

Tim, my dad just bought a 530i. Great car. He traded in his 323i for it, and really was sad to see his 323 go. He kept telling me he was going to miss his 3 series. Now, he's like, "What 323??"

You'll love the car. Congrats!

Like almost any BMW, it looks nice, but i'd have to see it in person to give a real opinion... Cockpit looks nice in that color, i've never seen one that color... Like someone mentioned, the wheels are nice... i would imagine i would like to give it a test drive... :-)
