I have a Bushisms daily calendar. Here are few of my favorites so far (remember, it's only April 2):

"I know what I believe. I will continue to articulate what I believe, and what I believe - I believe what I believe is right." (July 22, 2001 in Rome)

"Families is where our nation finds hope, where wings take dream." (October 18, 2000 in Wisconsin)

"You saw the president [Putin] yesterday. I thought he was very forward-leaning, as they say in diplomatic nuanced circles." (July 23, 2001)

"Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?" (January 11, 2000 in South Carolina)

"They misunderestimated me." (November 6, 2000 in Arkansas)

"Laura and I really don't realize how bright our children is sometimes until we get an objective analysis." (April 15, 2000 on Meet the Press)

"The education issue ought to be discussed about." (December 15, 2000 in Texas)

"The Bob Jones [University] policy on interracial dating, I mean I spoke out on interracial dating. I spoke out against that. I spoke out against interracial dating. I mean I support inter - the policy of interracial dating." (February 25, 2000 on CBS)

"We spent a lot of time talking about Africa, as we should. Africa is a nation that suffers from incredible disease." (June 14, 2001 in Sweden)

"If affirmative aciton means what I just described, what I'm for, then I'm for it." (October 17, 2000 in Missouri)

"I do remain confident in Linda [Chavez]. She'll make a fine labor secretary. From what I've read in the press accouts, she's perfectly qualified." (January 8, 2001 at a press conference)

"The legislatures' job is to write the law. It's the executive branch's job to interpret law." (November 22, 2000 in Texas)

Now, the man has an ivy league education (I'm sure he got in on his own merits) and he's the leader of the free world. However, he doesn't know basic rules of grammar and, more importantly, doesn't know the role of the excutive branch. I think the above, literally, speak for themselves.

Interesting that some equate spelling wit intellect. Da too aren't necesarly related! REad Quail's book, "Standing Firm", you may lern a few things. The President has a Harvard MBA. Last time I checked, Harvard wasn't a conservatory (ive) school. It is easy to stand back and take pot shots at another's intellect. However, as one who does a great deal of speaking in front of large groups, I will never do so. Frankly, I usually use abreviations when doing a presentation since my spelling is predy bad two! Don't underestimate this President. Than again, do, that is where he likes to be, underestimated, gives him a great advantage! Rob: where is that spell check?

Actually he did say "stratergize" at a press conference but then asked himself out loud if that was really a word or not and everyone laughed including the President, no big deal!

If you want to call someone an idiot look to Quayle. He couldn't spell Potato in front a bunch of fourth graders.

Don, bush NEVER said "strategery". That word was made up on the Saturday Night Live parody of his & Gore's debate during the 2000 campaign, when Gore's word was "lockbox"...

yeah, he does say some funny things, but I think he probably laughs about it himself. To me Blair is a much better speaker - look at it this way at least he won't be called slick Willie :-)

one should not confuse eloquence with intelligence. the two don't always go together - eg many people on this site probably consider me to be an idiot.
but as a contrast to bush, we could take the french foreign minister villepin, who speaks quite well in 2 languages, writes a lot of his own speeches, and writes poetry in his spare time - i still don't think he knows what he is talking about and will ultimately be proven wrong.

i guess when the chips are down, who would you rather have leading the way: john wayne or maurice chevalier?

Bush also said 'nucular' and 'subliminababble', among other things.

www.bushisms.com (mostly on Bush's weird vocabulary, not on his policies). Pretty funny taken just by itself, actually.

Robert:

I saw the article in todays' SF Chronicle. SGgate.com is the website, but it didn't give me a website for the review. From the article, it was a scream, he apparently needs a lot of practice when giving speeches, and this tape shows that (at least that's what the article says). The White House is very angry that someone had the camera rolling.

Here is the site for the article:

That's stupid. Like NOBODY else here has ever done that with a camera or binoculars, noticed it, took the lids off, then used it. Please.
