Hes obviously just some ignorant fool who has been been watching too much al-jazeera. If he thinks that saddam and his sons, who kill for no reason, shield themselves with women and children, and oppress their subjects, shoud stay in power, then that leads me to belive that MFZ is irrational and foolish. there is no point arguing with a person like this because no matter how valid or convincing your arguments are, you will not change their mind.
maybe saddam, assuming he is still alive, learn that the government is responsible for the welfare of the people, and must answer to the people, not the other way around. he obviously thinks that the people exist to serve the govt when it is really the other way around. MFZ does not understand this idea either.

So it is true, once you got the point across, they claim ignorance and call you names.

I shouldn't have bothered.

"Saddam and Milosovic for Malaysian President and Vice President! No? Don't like that idea?"

I bet you got that info from watching Ben Stillers's movie 'Zoolander'. The movie at least was funny, but your ignorance is definitely not.

Maybe we shouldn't have rescued your asses back in Mogadishu, Somalia, when your Black Hawks went down, so that movie might have a different ending instead.

As for your info, those are either wrong and biased.

The reason we don't want war is because unlike you guys, we know the price of war. No, it's not in dollar denominations.

BretM, if you are so gungho about war, why don't you go there and relieve those poor troops who are obviously tired and drained? Maybe the war will end faster if you were in charge.

Think about it.

Malaysia will not support war even if it was/is sanctioned by the UN as a legitimate course of action. In fact, it seems to oppose the use of force in all situations, in 1990/1991, in 1998 when tensions increased substantially, and even now. It realizes that it doesn't have a vote in the UN and all I can say is, thank God!

I suppose 10 years of less then full cooperation was not enough diplomacy and sweet talk to bring an end to the sanctions and prove 100% there are no WMD in Iraq. Ironic that Iran, which suffered chemical/biological and scud attacks during the war was NEUTRAL when Iraq invaded Kuwait. Obviously, there's a big difference over what "humane" or "conventional warfare" means in our respective countries and of those in the Middle East.

I'm sure all it would have took was a few more blow jobs and Saddam would have been ready to finally cooperate. Yeah right.

Saddam and Milosovic for Malaysian President and Vice President! No? Don't like that idea? Why not? Its not like they respect the Geneva Conventions, won't resort to using inhumane weapons against its enemies, and the reports from Kuwait saying Iraq has launched missiles against its cities are really untrue. Milosovic never really participated in ethnic cleansing, it was all directed by those under him. Whats not to like about the pair? They're misguided, thats all.

Political pressure is all thats ever needed to convince a military Dictatorship to not do certain things.

Here's some reading for you.

http://www.efreedomnews.com/News%20Archive/Iraq/UNSecCnclResolutions.htm

Note that in 1994, Resolution 949, demands Iraq return its military to original positions North of the "southern" area between Iraq and Kuwait.. sounds suspiciously like the no fly zone which has to use force to keep Iraq from doing this. I could be wrong.

Note resolutions dealing with non-cooperation have seemingly disappeared and instead, the UN appears to have flipped over on its belly to get the oil for food going despite a lack of 100% accountability for its weapons.

seriously, MFZ, how can you possibly think that the iraqis will not be any more free when saddam and his regime are out? I dont even think i should justify that comment with a response. Saddam has no regard for his subjects. He is ahving them shot if they try to leave cities. He uses women and children as human shields. the guy is the freakin' antichrist.

Too bad we can't just send MFZ into Baghdad, after listening to his nonsense for a few hours the Republican Guard is bound to surrender. Seriously, your posts make my brain hurt. Randall may differ in opinion but at least he posts intelligent, rational thoughts.

"I GUARANTEE that Iraqis will be vastly more free after this regime is deposed than they are today."

I'm holding on to your words.

"Japan. Grenada. Korea. Panama. Germany. Russia. Afghanistan. Serbia. And Iraq is going to be added to the list very very soon."

I'm not so sure on Afghanistan or Serbia just yet, Mike. Seen the news lately? Oh that's right, they're CENSORED.

I'm so proud of our military and our leaders for having the guts to do this thing.

I wonder where the folks like MFZ will be when the Iraqis are celebrating in the streets? Will they admit being wrong or will they just say it's more propaganda? Will they say it was all about oil?

The USA, while we do not have a perfect track record (Vietnam) we do have a string of overhwelming successes in bringing peace, prosperity, democracy, freedom, and stability to the world. Japan. Grenada. Korea. Panama. Germany. Russia. Afghanistan. Serbia. And Iraq is going to be added to the list very very soon.

GO USA!

P.S. Syria, don't get too comfortable - you're next.

No, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Saddam needed to go anyway. Not that we should have the right to go around taking out leaders we don't like, but in this case I don't think he will be missed.

I was referring to the citizens of Iraq, sorry I wasn't more clear. It will take a while before their lives recover from the damage done. Many of them will never recover. It was the same way in the Soviet Union, many people said their lives were worse after the fall of communism, but eventually things did get better.

We have always had policies in place to promote the failure of communism. Take Cuba for example, it would prosper without sanctions. Too bad as an American I don't have the freedom to travel there.

What IF (that's a big if) no chem/bio weapons are found in Iraq? Should Bush be punished?

Id have to say the war is looking incredibly good right now. 3ID just siezed key bridges intact over the Euphrates river. Marines already hold bridges over the Tigris river and have no organized opposition preventing a direct advance on Baghdad.

I would not be surprised if there are US troops doing room to room searches of Saddams bunker complexes within the week.

When Baghdad falls I think were going to see a totally different face on the Iraqi people than we see now. The face of jubilation and appreciation. I hope the people living in oppression in Syria and Saudi pay close attention.

This war will look better in 1 month that it does now. The naysayers will realize that our objectives had plenty of merrit and the outcome will be a free Iraq without the spectre of a butchering dictator hanging over every Iraqi citizen. If the United States is wrong, then look at all these past "successes" by other governments:

Soviet Union: millions killed by a communist system that eventually fell apart.

North Korea: millions living and dying in poverty while their neighbors to the south live and prosper in an economy kept free by the defense of the United States during the Korean War.

Cuba: a country floundering in poverty and living in the stone age for the past 45 years just 90 miles south of prosperous Miami.

China: billions of people living a "wonderful" lifestyle constantly guarded by state police on every corner as they ride their bicycles to work while the rest of the civilized world rides around in air conditioned automobiles.

The list could go on and on.

With all the reporters in the area, WE are getting the real story. I dont know what al jazeera is saying, but its validity should be suspect.
Did saddam say that victory was at hand? I didnt know dead men could speak.

No, MFZ, it is YOU who've gotta be kidding me.

I GUARANTEE that Iraqis will be vastly more free after this regime is deposed than they are today.

Care to refute that, or do you just like spouting anti-American, anti-Bush jingoism?
