Is that cold shower really COLD or just "not hot" cold? The kind that you can tolerate ok for a quick clean-up. |

You should look into Maho Bay. Its a wonderful ecologically friendly resort. Everything is built on wooden stilts, including the walkways - its almost like a Neverland deal. You stay in a sort of cabin. The frame is made out of wood, the top half of it is screen, the bottom half is somr sort of plastic. Very relaxing, with a nice beach not too far away. Though depending on your cabin, you may have to walk up and down a LOT of stairs to get to it. Bear in mind the showers are cold, and involve a pull chain, because they want you to use as little water as possible. However, I highly suggest this place, as its removed from the rest of the bustle. Oh, and check out Mongoose Junction, very interesting architecture style. |

Yep- stayed there. Would go back. Get one of the rooms close to the beach. Some rooms are way up the hill and that gets tiresome. Westin is THE place to stay on St. John (there isn't many places) if you have any kids. The beach at the hotel is only OK. Maybe it pales a bit compared to the other beaches to be found on the island. Avoid the restraunt that is above the lobby- way overpriced for what you got. Email me if you want a list of the best places to eat. Caneel Bay is very nice but more rustic (in a classy way) then the Westin.

Westin has the BEST shower heads in the hotel business. The quality of the shower is of MAJOR importance to me in a hotel room. I would trade a great shower for $hitty service if I had to. |

I'm actually looking at that Westin in late May. I've spent time in St Johns before at Caneel Bay, it was awesome. Possibly my favorite of all the islands, and I've been to a bunch of them. The beaches are amazing. |

every time I went to St. John's it was either by sailboat or for a day trip. Either way St. John's is probably one of the nicest places in the world to just kick back and relax. Make sure to rent a scooter and drive over the island. Carefull they drive on the wrong side. picture perfect beaches. sand and good food. start and finsih the day with a nice long drink. Yes, also start the day that way. Its Islands Style , man! |
