Isn't it amazing how we can overlook the simple things...or how a small act of kindness can mean so much? Very cool! It may sound too "California" for much of the country, but my boss and friends encouraged me to get into yoga a few years ago - you wouldn't believe the benefits! You might want to check out an Ashtanga course in town (and give it a few tries - I HATED it the first three times I went). ~C |

Have you ever had one of those weeks where everything you do seems to just cave in around you. I had one this week and I was just about ready to go yelling into the street. And to top it off, Wednesday evening when I got home, I found my mother-in-law and brother-in-law had come to "spend a few days" without giving us any prior notice. How convenient. This week was really going in the toilet. Well, I got home yesterday evening and to my surprise our "guests" had gone home, leaving us with a much quieter and less hectic environment. My wife asked if I had any plans for the evening. I confessed I did not as I had assumed we would be entertaining our guests. She said, "well sit down then and relax". She had gone to the store and purchased a large package of country style ribs and had the grille already going on the patio. She gave me a ice cold mug of my favorite malt beverage and set out a tray of tortilla chips and homemade salsa. I spent about 30 minutes cleaning out the filter baskets on the pool and cleaning leaves out of the waterfall and then just sat down and totally relaxed. Man, a cold beer, chips and salsa, the sounds of the waterfall cascading into the pool and the smell of those ribs grilling outdoors on a perfect spring evening in Texas. We spent the entire evening doing NOTHING. It was great. It just doesn't get any better than this. Now, looking back, the week doesn't seem so bad. |
