Jon, thats why I said paritally for the E31. If I remember correctly, the S70 engine was ///M developed, but thats about it. I hear you about BMWs, great cars, my second fav. comparny after Ferrari, as you could prob tell in my profile. As for ///M7, a guy i know is making one...powered by a ///M5 engine with ///M5 trany. Personally, I would of started with a V12, ported, polished, bored out, and turboed. |

Omar, Brain fade on my part and from a certified M nut and owner to boot. The M635CSI and M6 were great cars. However the 8 series was never a true M car. The 850CSI borrowed many ideas from the one-off M8 that never reached production but the 850CSI was still not an M car. Jon

Thanks for the responses gentlemen -- I was wondering if it was an Owner "rebadge" (had big evil modern wheels/tires and brakes and sounded fairly healthy). It clearly had an "M7" on the rear trunklid surface (and no other markings so very clean externally). You know it's tough enough on us TRs with M3s and M5s running around... |

Matt, You are referring to the E23 chassis from 78-87. However, there has never been an M version of any 7 series ever produced. You may be confused with a special 7 series model badged the "L7" which was a special luxury version. The oringinal M models were all hand made and at a seperate plant in Garching. To date the onle M models have been derivitaves of the 3 and 5 series along with the M coupe and roadsters. Regards, Jon P. Kofod 1995 F355 Challenge #23

Steve could be referring to the OLD 7 series which looked like the 400 series Ferrari. If that is the case, BMW did make a M version of the 7 series. I am referring to the early to mid 80's car. Before the v-12 |

Dan's right. Chances are its a 740i Sport with a few 'M' badges. |

Correct, Wayne. There is no such car. I've seen extensively modified 7ers rebadged, but nothing more. --Dan |

It's my understanding that this car does not exist. There was some recent speculation, and even some computer-rendered photos, in various magazines that an M7 model was in the works, but I believe that BMW has since confirmed that the project was shelved. My guess is that the car you saw was creatively rebadged by its owner. Anybody know anything otherwise? |

Saw a 4-door BMW M7 sedan/saloon the other day (very 400/412 like) -- anyone have a link to describe? |
