Ground Hog hunting is a blast (literally). They kinda pop up and down so it feels somewhat sporting. Be prepared to have them flip up in the air a few feet when you shoot them and make sure to finish them off. Even I can't hold back a little tear when you knock one off and others come out of the hole to be by it's side. I have that in duck hunting too. You'll shoot one of a pair and the other one will come back moving it's neck around quacking up a storm looking for it's mate. I have to promise Jennie each time that I will do everything I can to shoot both in a pair so that the other one doesn't have to live with the emotional separation. Duck is my favorite meet. Very dark and bloody if you've never had it before. Mmmmm. |

I guess the most fun was long range groundhog hunting y'know, i've now got TWO families of groundhogs living on my property. they did a damn good job of trying to destroy my roses last year. i've been told that firearms are one of the few things that will control them. not sure i can bring myself to take them out (they are cute), but at some point the money and effort that goes into the rose garden has to be taken seriously. i've asked them politely to leave, but apparently they're having none of it! doody. |

I have been an avid enthusiast for many years. I enjoy upland hunting (both walk-up and driven), skeet / trap / sporting clays, long range rifle / sniper, and pistol. I am a life member of the NRA, a CCW holder, a member of the Vintagers British Country Life Association, British Game Conservatory, Scottish Game Keepers, and the NJ Arms Collectors club. I have a nice mix of firearms for all occasions, and would to meet up with some locals for a little hunting, clays or target. Some of my favourites are; 1934 Cogswell & Harrison SLE 12bore HK P7M8 HK Tactical with laser & entry light M1D Garand Sniper AR15 with 22" Bull barrel flat top sniper IMI Desert Eagle 44 mag in nickel Commemorative 6 day war Israeli Mauser

It's nice to see so many people who appreciate firearms. I went to the local gun shop today and rented some guns to shoot at the indoor range to see which ones I would be interested in purchasing and concealed carry. I tried Austria's fine line of Glocks, namely the G21, G22, and G26. Fine pieces although they jammed twice, I'm just thinking because of the high usage because they are rentals. I have read really good reviews about them. Next time, I may try various 1911 .45 models from Colt, Springfield, and Kimber. Then some HK. Suprisingly, I found a varied mix of people renting, shopping, and asking questions about guns. From middle aged women to teenages with their fathers in there. Just goes to show that it's not stereotypical "gun nuts" in there. They also conduct CCW classes and range instruction as well. The staff is friendly and some of them are ex military or police. |

Avid gun collector here. Favorite if needed; the trusty AR15 with a M-4 upper, ACOG gunsite, RAS modular foregrip, with surefire 6-p light, double magazine clamp if 30 rounds isn't enough. |

I grew up hunting and fishing with my dad. I was duck hunting with my dad by the time I was 3 years old. I would sit next to him with my plastic gun and he made me practice proper hunter safety and everything. I had my first bb gun by 5 and a 410 by 9. My dad and I were never into pistols, although my wife is and I've shot one a few times with her. My dad and I just hunted waterfowl, doves, upland game, rabbits, and squirrels. I've never even shot a deer, although I might soon through my father in law. My grandfather and mom were big deer hunters and I still have his 30-06. 30 years since it's killed a deer and my father in law killed a doe with it last year. Since I moved to Dallas I haven't hunted as much as I would like. I go duck hunting about 3-4 times a year and will hunt dove and pheasants up in Kansas a couple times. I grew up with you eat what you shoot. Use to think targets tasted pretty bad, but I've started coming around after blowing the heck out of targets with the 30-06. Still not comfortable with hand guns, don't think there's any common situation I need to shoot myself out of, but sometimes my quick temper might make me think about it. Besides the 30-06 and a 22, all my guns are shotguns. I have about 8 or so. My favorites being my dad's Ithaca O/U and Browning A-5. I'm looking at getting a modern Browning Gold Hunter 3.5 soon. Eventually after I finally get my classic 12 Ferrari, I'll start collecting classic 12 double guns. |

I've never really got the bug until I went shooting with a friend of mine recently. I shot an AR15, a FAL, some revolver that took .454 Casul rounds (that was a hand stinger!) an HK USP 45. I've shot before, but this time it really got me good. So, I'm working on going to buy a AR15 kit and assemble one and possibly an AK47 Working on getting several handguns to get my CCW (Concealed Carry Weapons) permit and some training, home defense, tactical, target shooting etc. I am also starting to follow closely on gun legislation. |

Kinda tough to have a decent colllection here in California. Luckily we bought the fun stuff before the morons in charge started to crack down. Let's just say I sleep very well at night. Mostly newer large caliber stuff. The neighbors keep their distance from us. Too bad we have to have some stored in various locatons and out of state to lessen our exposure. Love the military saying "If you run you'll only die tired'. WFO |

Yes, I also share that hobby. No hunting--just target shooting & personal protection. Most of mine are more contemporary---prefer not to list them on an open forum...

very nice, I have a 1943 Mosin-Nagant Sniper rifle, just like the one seen in Enemy at the Gates. I like Cold block weapons, but nothing compares to the Germans. |

I used to do competitive trap shooting. Also have done benchrest 100 yard competition. But I guess the most fun was long range groundhog hunting. My best gun for groundhog hunting was a 7mm magnum with a bull barrel and a 24X Redfield on it. It was build on a Mauser '98 action with a Timney trigger. I did the stock myself. All this was done many years ago. |

I've always been fascinated with firearms. I was wondering if anyone else shares similar interests. Here is a picture of my Mosin-Nagant M38 carbide 7.62x54R caliber. Complete with accessories. I like the Russian-Finnish Mosins and other C&R firearms. Although, I am saving for an AR15 and some other handguns.
