Try to step up to a 530i. It has the bigger 6 cylender yet still the smooth ride. The 8 cylender BMW's seem to ride rougher.

I've heard some nightmare stories about electrical problems. That said, I also know a couple of folks who have BMWs w/ 200K miles and no major issues. The 528, while a super handler (in true Bimmer fashion), is a bit under powered IMO. While it would be more $$, a 540 would provide a more complete car. Get a used one before the Bangle-ized 2004s hit the road! Good luck

Hi All,

My fiancee is looking into purchasing a 1998 BMW 528i and asked me to get your thoughts. I just bought an M3 myself, and know with a ppi we could be aware of any mechanical problems, but she is more concerned about electrical stuff, etc. She has a friend who has leased three 5 series over the years and had constant problems with the electronics (example - a bulb in the dash burned out and would cost $800 to fix, etc.)

Thanks in advance for your advice, comments, thoughts and input...

~Chris
