Usually door openers are x or k band. Ka or laser is alomst definately a cop, and the detector will make some noticeable noises for these bands. A buddy of mine has a V1 hardwired into his car. It's saved him a few times. |

Peter: Check the V1 web site. They have comments regarding legality. As I remember (but please check for yourself), only VA and Wash DC are problem areas, as is most of Canada. Somehow the bogey tracking feature seemed like a non-event to me previously. Now I see why it is absolutely invaluable. But, in truth, it probably would be mere fluff if it weren't for some advanced brain-work going on inside the V1 box that does some interpretation for you. In my little 'incident' today, the detector went from "we've got some radar-stuff going on - be careful" to "HOLY SH!T, BATMAN, THERE'S TROUBLE AHEAD". I was impressed. |

Good! Glad to hear that it's working as advertised. I just ordered one to be sent to my cousin in Seattle for transfer to me later. Hans, do you know the legality of using V1 in Washington state? I am having my cousin test it before sending it to me. Thanks! |

Was cruising by a strip mall with my brand new V1. I had been by there earlier, and got the usual bunch of alerts from the door openers. This time the detector went apesh!t, the display looked like the 4th of July, and it made sounds I hadn't heard before. What I noticed is that the bogey counter was at 5, whereas before it was at 4. The forward arrow was blinking madly. Sure enough, a few blocks ahead was a motorcycle cop. What, of course, stands out about this is with a 'regular' detector, I may have ignored the warning. It was the extra bogey and the forward arrow that tipped me off, as well as the rather berzerk behavior of the detector as a whole. |
