Post a pic of the plug, in the Great Plains book they have a Coleman 5000w for $522 more in your price range. Volts times amp draw = watts, wish you were closer so I could help more

While I have your ear (or keyboard). I think I need an electrical lesson.

When I took my semester of auto electrical and obviously didn't learn anything because Greg Scott and I were skipping class to be at the pub, I faintly remember the comparison of electricity to water.

So with electricity you have watts, amps, and ohms. So which one is voltage? amps?

Ohms is the resistance and... well, I'm already lost, anyone explain it so I can remember it. I did get an "A" too!

Outside plug is big, looks even bigger than a 220.

You can tell I don't know anything about this. It's at least a 220 though.

The Onan unit is low profile and designed for this type of application, any genset will work once you find out how big of one you need. For the interior lights pull one out and see what voltage they are 12/120, if 12 then they should work off the car battery. What does the outside plug look like regular 120, 25 amp 120 or 220

I'm not going to spend $2k. I was thinking $500 or so. Isn't there anything out there for that price that will run a little AC and a couple dome lights?

WOW! $2300 for a generator. I didn't think they were that pricey. Can't you get some HOnda at Home Depot to run lights and a small A/C unit? Or at the track do they have a place you can plug in a land line for power for a small fee?

So the trailer just has a land line plug, if you do want to get a genset, find out the max draw the A/C needs add the lights and start shopping. Onan makes some great units for motorhomes, all depends on how much you want to spend. Great Plains sells the Onans at about what I can get them for as a dealer, 4000w unit about $2300 1-800-525-9716

Hmm, guess I need to buy a generator then.

Any recommendations on brands and specs I should look for?

I don't want to spend much money, just enough for the lights and A/C and maybe another accessory or two.

From what I'm reading the trailer does have an on board generator, if this is the case it does need to be running for the A/C to work. The battery on the tow car would not power the A/C. As for the inside lights I would think they are also gen. powered. If you were in the Chicago area my shop could confirm these things. The # 7 wire most used is the center is most likely the charge line for the genset battery

Well, the trailer guy said the 7th connection is for accessories like the dome lights. I just don't know if I'm missing some master switch somewhere or if my trailer was only set up to run off the generator, basically meaning the 7th conneciton is useless.

Does A/C work on battery power or does it require AC current? Maybe the lights and A/C do need a AC power supply.

Can you follow any wires from the A/C and dome lights to see where they go?

Just picked my trailer up and I'm not sure about the electronics and various things. This trailer has all the options (external lights, inside dome lights, and A/C). The plug to the truck is a 7 hole and the extra is for all the accessories. Most of these just have a 6 hole for lights and electric brake. However, even with it plugged in and the truck on the inside lights/AC won't come on. The turning lights and electric brake work fine.

There's a fuse box on the inside and I made sure everything was on. There is a huge thick wire with several prongs on the inside that hook up close to the fuse box. I plugged that in. However, I think that just comes from the outside generator connection. My questions...

1) Is my trailer maybe wired so the accessories can only get powered from the generator and not the truck battery?

2) Is there just a master switch somewhere I don't know about? Only thing I could find was that fuse box and major wire from the generator hook up.

It's a 24.5' Pace Aero Sport with all the options.
