Sunny,

have you looked into getting a new head unit with a front panel AUX in? I have a 20gig ipod, and will definitely be upgrading to a new head unit where I can plug directly in, as opposed to using an fm modulator or tape adapter. Just something to consider, especially since if you used the AUX on the back of the head unit, you would lose the ability to add a cd changer.

Also, are you considering satellite radio?

Yep. Over here.

DamonB - cool setup :-)

I worked at a high end shop for a while. It always seemed without exception that people who were really into audio equipment were really into high end automobiles. Anyone else notice this too?

They are a very tight fit in the 308, lost almost 1.5 sec on 0-60 with the added wt.

Sunny: I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that the question related to home, not car audio. If i am wrong, that means Bob has installed Klipshorns in his vehicle, which is scary.

4 MB Quart P-series PSD316 in the doors, going to buy a Zapco amp here soon, install a sub and port it through the rear deck into the cabin. Tubes work very well in the trunks of an XJ and can be removed if the trunk space is needed.

Undecided on the head unit to use.

Much much better then the 25w 6.5" paper mid-range crap my car came with standard. Stock tweeters are great though, keeping those and the crossover/tweeters from MB Quart spare.

Cerwin Vega system at home with 4 fronts (2 mid-high, 2 mids), center and 2 satellites. A Yamaha powered sub with Sony 5.1 digital/CD/DVD/Trinitron that makes up the entertainment center.

I'm basically a tube/electrostat guy; various systems, in different configurations over the years, using multiple old Quads with Decca/then Sequerra ribbons, Quad 63's modified by Crosby (still not as coherent as the original Quad but much higher output); stacks of ARC electronics, ranging from my vintage SP 3 a-1 with matching D75a to a hot-rodded (by the factory) Sp-10 preamp with a Classic 60, plus ARC tube monoblocks, etc. Cart: Lyra Parnassus, nude, on heavily tweaked Well Tempered Thing, with different platter, motor, isolation platform, etc. Hmmm, then there's the Quad mono tube amps, the various subwoofers, processors (Meridian) and other assorted stuff that supports the video system. That doesn't include the various backround listening systems, the garage system, or the Marantz 10b tuner that Marc Finer from Sony still owes me.

I'm in the middle, not quite an audiophile, but definitely obsessed with several different flavors of music :-)
