Whart, the G wagen is unchanged since what, the 70s? The UNIMOG since what, the 60s? I read an article on them, they are amazing "little" "trucks."

I'd rather have a Ford Explorer because that way I could dust him. If a Cayenne owner is being an ass about it and you gas it, he'll punch it too and still tailgate! Cheers |

I think the new Range Rover is going to be the most desirable Range Rover to ever be produced. Why? it's because of the BMW hardware. Not only it has BMW engine, it also has the BMW feel, electronics, switches, smell, and all. I agree it's better than Cayenne S but not Cayenne Turbo. Interesting to note that all these SUV are so much safer than most cars on the road today. Appreciate and dont hate them. Put it this way. Which one would rather be tailgating you .. a Ford Explorer or a Cayenne? |

Sorry for the off-thread remarks. The Cayenne turbo is a sporty SUV on steroids to be sure. Yes, it is less powerful at this time. Its not a 100% done deal though. At the JCNA Challenge Championship in AZ recently, the execs confirmed they are very seriously considering the AJ-V8. Switching to the AJ-V8 will simplify things for the dealers who will be able to phase out training and parts on the beemer engine. All Jaguar dealers are becoming Land Rover dealers (if they aren't already). With it appearing in an Aston Martin, Ford is intent on sharing the parts bins and it gives them a way, albeit with mods, to not depend on BMW and all the personnel and $$ its costing and will cost. With that said, a Rover is not going to compete with the Cayenne or even close to it, anytime soon with this vision. Sunny |

Forget Rover having a new BMW engine. They are going to use the Jaguar AJ-V8 as the power plant in a year or two. Its also the engine for the AMV8, though tweaked for more HP like an Arden. I don't think the Rover will have a 'stuffer (supercharger), so it will put out 300hp/300ft from a 4.2L unless they up the displacement. |

Kenny, actually, thats the sad part. If BMW didnt sell LR, the new Rover would be powered by the current generation of BMW engines and not the last generation. The M62 is a great engine, but compared to Porsches 340 hp, the 282 hp is just sad. If BMW still had control, we would have a M73 V12 powered rover (same engine as my E38...that would have been heavenwith a respectable 326 hp and 360 ft-lbs of torquemind you this engine is also 3 generations old in terms of BMW engine design). And if BMW did use their current Gen engines, we would have the ~330hp V8 from the current E65 7 series (it must be slightly re-designed for off-roading)and maybe the 760s current V12 with over 400 hp! Then the Rover would be true Porsche competition. Right now its a half completed dream...but then I would still have bought the MKII Range if it was the only one in production, just because I loved my MKII! She never let me down and obeyed me like well, a well trained dog..ahh my old rover.

The new Rovers are awesome cars with the BMW 4.4i V8's... Porsche CayenneS vs. the new Range Rover, good comparison. |

Thanks for elaborating. Haven't the Range Rovers suffered from reliability woes though? I know people who have owned them and never will again. I have heard that they are incredible off roaders though. Cheers |

I had one (98 HSE), and just passed up the Porsche and put a deposit on the 03 Range. I looked into the Cayenne, but well it screamed LOOK AT ME far more than the Rover did, and since I am going to use it as my daily, I didn't like that. The interior didnt work for me as well either(on the Cayenne). I have a (now old) E38 750iL, which remains one of my favorite cars, and the interior feel of the MKIII Range is best described as a hybrid between the MKII (which is also nostalgic for me) and the E38. Mind you they kept only the good from the MKII. People complained that the MKIII has a hard to use Nav, well its the same as my E38, as with most buttons, so to me, the New Range's controls are well perfect. When I sat in the MKIII, the salesmen asked if I had any questions on what the buttons did, on reviewing them all, I was happy to say "No, thank you." The drive is wonderful IMO of the Range (compared to the MKII), and while the Cayenne offers all the features of the Range with more power, the final sticker on a equally optioned S is higher than the Range's would be. Basicily which glove fits best.... |

Range Rover is better? If you make a comment like that enlighten us as to why please . I personally have little hands on experience with Range Rovers. Only hand me down info. They're really slow, aren't they? Cheers |

I think the car looks great and has the performance to boot. I mean come on I've driven an escalade and their slogan "the most powerful suv on the planet" is garbage. I would much rather own a cayenneS or turbo for that matter then the caddy. There really is nothing else like it. Also from what I read the SUV does everything it is designed to do whether that be spirited driving to going off road. I think the front looks cool, but I am not a huge fan of the back. Erik |

Very nice Rijk! I don't care what everyone says about the Cayenne. As of right now it's the ONLY SUV that I'd buy. I think it looks the part and I don't think it's too far fetched from Porsche. Porsche has been racing off road for quite some time. Their famous 959 did the Paris-Dakkar and won twice in a row until the factory stopped. They have also won numerous rallies with the 911 and the 959. Why does everyone think a Porsche SUV is so far out of the question? I think it falls right in with what the company does. Especially since the performance on the thing is sizzzzzling. Cheers |

If they sold ther RS6 Avant over here, I would likely take it over the Cayenne Turbo also. But I believe we only get the sedan But what does it matter, I can't buy either! |

Yes, I drove a Cayenne Turbo the day they were introduced (March 15th, if I remember right). I was VERY impressed in all aspects. It was really cool to have four people riding in absolute luxury, then punch it and have everyone's head snap back. |

I too hope that Ferrari doesn't put out an SUV too. But I do hope that Maserati will put out the Kubang! The Cayenne is far from a POS. I saw one at the dealership and I was impressed with it. I had a sighting on the road too. Will post pics later. The Turbo is fast I hear. Cheers |
