Jack: You nailed it.
Raymond: Americans are lazy! Drives throughs are here to stay though. If a DT has too many cars in line, I can usually get faster service by walking in! The thing I hate is when I get to the window and they ask me to 'park' and they will bring my food out. I did that once and never again. Now when they ask me that, I will tell them I will not. This usually gives them the incentive to expedite my burger. I have no problem pissing off some twerp that does not have the decency to thank me for my business.

Just because fast food places are staffed mostly by teenagers doesn't mean we should learn to accept rude behavior or a lack of manners. To use McDonald's as an example, the few times I do go there, the service is horrible and food takes a long time to arrive. McDonald's has suffered as a result of this trend, yet they always seem to look at the product for a fix, rather than the delivery. Every few months when I return, there are 3 new sandwiches to choose from, but the same bad attitudes serving them. I'm 36, and my parents taught me proper manners growing up. I think there's been a downward trend in respect to that.

How about we do away with ALL drive through windows? Get out of your car and talk to people. The decrease in bad emmisions would be unreal.
Some people might stop eating while driving and actually pay attention to the job of driving.
Gas mileage would go up.
Are we Americans too lazy ????

Here in Ct. min. wage is $6.90 an going up again next year. Some states are at $7-8 per hour now.
Tomorrow you could raise it to $14 an the quality an people would stay the same!

I think in Waikiki starting pay at fast food is about $8/hr. But there's not a lot of teens working that job here.

I've always said the age of employees at fast food shows the job market. If the job market is good, it's all teens. If the job market is bad, the average age goes up.

This may be brutal, but here goes:

Lets look at some facts, "brain-dead teens" working at a fast food chain....umm..you're not exactly dealing with America's finest here, so this should not come as a surprise. Second, with many broken homes in that arena and a complete lack of respect and common courtesy...did you expect anything less?

As a friend of mine would have said, "What do you expect for $7.50 an hour?" It's fast food, which denotes don't stay around long enough to notice the service.

Mortons of Chicago and BK all serve beef in one form or another, but the service you get for the price you pay is quite a contrast. I'd say better fill out those comment cards either for good or bad.

Randall: "Minimum wage and you're hot and nasty indoors every day."

You sure you weren't a porn star?

I worked at BK. By far the worst job I've ever had. Minimum wage and you're hot and nasty indoors every day.

As long as my food is hot and served in a timely manner I couldn't care less what pleasantries they use.

When I go to the places mentioned, I don't make an issue with anyone thats handling my food. Period. I treat them as I would my fellow man at church. If there pissed off, leave it alone. I want any "special secret sauce" if you get my drift. Some of us worked fast food at one time, I sure Jonas can enlighten us with some stories.

PeterS, please stop complaining about stupid things, thank you.

:-) Just Kidding!!

You are right. The worst part is that the people who do say it at the drive throughs do so as if it's part of a script or a line they had to memorize to get the job. Nobody means it anymore.

Cheers

I agree; no, you're not being too anal. One comes across so very little common courtesy and basic civility nowadays....not only at the drive-thru, it's lacking everywhere. What a shame.

No, you're not.

Common courtesy is way underrated. It makes a difference. These "kids" just haven't learned that yet.

I thought MCD's was service with a smile, you should complain to the manager. :-)

Whats with these brain-dead teens today? My last 5-6 trips through McD's, BKing and TBell, I never heard a Please or a Thank you. Why do kids not learn basic pleasantries? I'm only 44. I was saying P&TY since I could remember. Am I being too anal?
