LOL William & Peter. Saw a trashy CRX/primered in spots with new rims, shiny chrome fart pipe, lowered, with a goofy 16-20 year old with his mouth hung open and staring in front of him as his car bounced up and down at the small ruts in the road doing 70-75mph on the highway the other day. I very nearly reached around my seat for the digital camera... Sunny P.S. forgot to mention he had a similar aged passenger and they both hawd ball caps turned backwards at a slight angle. Thats what made me chuckle as cool as it might be. | ||

I'll give you a hundred bucks if you print the thread I started called 'Tell me why you can't stand ricers' iron-transfered to a Tee Shirt and wear it at the show (Picture of proof required!). Arlie, There was a car there with a $50k sound system (Civic). It drew a far bigger crowd than any car in there. Another one had rims that cost $15k (they were handing out brochures on it). List goes on and on. It's just differences in taste. I just mentioned it because it boggles the mind. ESPECIALLY since that RX-7 looked amazing, was a Japanese car which is popular with import tuners, and had substance behind it's looks. People were there just to look at outrageous body kits and the like. These weren't car enthusiasts in the sense that most here know. They like things to look like spaceships. Cheers | ||

Those kids are probably smart enough to realize that they MIGHT actually be able to obtain a Civic and have some fun with it. How many of them will be able to get their hands on a 550 Ferrari? Probably none. So they might as well forget about the 550. (of course they should probably forget about BOTH cars and get something that they can afford; like any older American car with a V8 engine.) Dreaming is one thing, but sooner or later one has to accept reality. Especially if you're working after school for gas money. | ||

I know some dealers that are bringing some cars from Japan, one a Honda S2000 with a carbon fiber wide body. $$$$ He has a sponser to cover the cost of this project. It's funny how most kids are. Last year at a import show, Wheels America brought a yellow 550 coupe & not many people seem to care. They were more interested with a Civic with gullwing doors & a crappy paint job. | ||

Hey you never know. There are some gems in there sometimes. A buddy of mine entered a race prepped Japanese spec super fly mac daddy RX-7 last year at the one near here (San Mateo, CA). Sad thing is he spent a ton of money on the car, it's a true racer that'll spank butt on the track and he shipped it from Japan for the event. Guess what. Totally underappreciated. People would flock to the neon and stereo systems. He also brought a Porsche Turbo, an M3, and an E55. Guess what. Everybody took pics of the cars but ran over to the neon and car stereos. Sad. He was pissed. Last time he'll ever do one of those events. Cheers | ||

Jason, Yea, I know this thing will be a joke but that�s one of the reasons I'm going. $25.00 at the door, One the few car shows that I've been to where I have to go through a metal detector, check out all the gangster wannabe�s. Go figure. Did you run last weekend at the horse track? It was a short course, didn't like it much & was too hot. I didn't get my car set up like I wanted to. Next race will be a night at gulf Greyhound Park, maybe I'll see you there. Opps, my bad spelling "invaid" rather than "invade". I feel like such a dingus. | ||
