IMO Mazda copied quite a bit from the S2000 for the RX-8.

Not a fan of the body kit. I kind of like the stock look better. But DAMN! That thing's got quite a few ponies under that hood, don't it?

The last generation RX-7 is by far the best.

But go see the new X-Men movie.. They actually use a Blue RX-8 as a get away vehicle.. Looks better than I thought...

I think this sports car would be better sans back seats. However, I think the true strength of this car is driving characteristics. The car is unbelievably balanced and will handle very well, rumors are much better than the 3rd gen. Engine wise we have a naturally aspirated car. Whether Mazda turbos a future version or you do it yourself, you'll end up with a car that handles and speeds better than the 3rd gen. The 3rd gen is an animal in my books too, so who can complain with even more of an animal. Oh well, back to enjoying my 1st gens.

Like it. Looks a bit too LWB in photos. Smaller (and better) in person. Could use more power from what I've read. Bet it'll be a fun one.

Saw one here in New Orleans a couple months back when Mazda had a crew here promoting it. Looked much better in person. A practical type sportscar I suppose.

The way the fenders suddenly bulge out around the wheels causes me to think Dodge Durango. SUV look.

SUV? What? Where?

It's a four seater sports car. That's the concept. I like the suicide doors. I got hooked on them when I saw the old 40's and 50's Mercurys and the 60s Lincolns of course (not to mention the much older European cars). I think it works, but it needs the speed of the old one. Something else though...

Who is the dumb-azz boy-genius at Mazada that said, "gee lets combine a SUV and a sports car".

What a lame attempt to give all the people what they want. I don't think it will win the SUV fans or the sports car fans.

Loved the last RX7

RX-8 will make all the mags against the new "Z"
Should be fun to read.

Nice pics Rob!

I don't know though. Something's missing and I can't quite put my finger on it...

Lame, i don't like it. It's now a 4 door so to me it has a mini SUV look to it we all know thats very wrong. Looks like a Honda S2000 in certain areas as well. If only Mazda would listen, bring back the gen 3 RX7!!!!

I love it, but of course everyone knows I'm a big Mazda rotary fan. I saw it in person at the Dallas autoshow...

I would get one if I already had my house, a classic 12 Ferrari, and enough money. Oh well, priorities. I just got back my 1985 RX7 with a brand new Mazda crate motor. I'm very excited.

Yeah, those RX-7 R2's were awesome. Buddy of mine had one in college but refused to let me drive it.

But I sat in it plenty...:-)

i loved my Rx7 III. enjoyed the crap out of it. i'm really not impressed with what i've read about the Rx8 thus far.

they seem to have substantially "downmarketed" it similar to how the new 350Z was neutered.

doody.

Are they out yet? I'd love to get some seat time in one of those things, but I'm not in the market for one at all.

Maybe they'll come out with a Turbo model in the next couple of years.

Cheers

Not too sure if this issue has been discussed here already, but what does everyone think of the new RX-8?? Worth it? Pass?
