Rule# 1: If you want to hide assets DON'T post that intention on an internet chat site such as FC.

Philip
I'm not aware of accounts that pay that level of interest. You're looking at more like 3.5-4%
Really suggest that you get some expert financial advice....
Here is a link to offshore accounts in the Channel Islands...Jersey/Guernsey....These are what I would call tier one accounts (very safe banking instituitions)
You can find similar instituitions in BVI & Bahamas etc. I'd steer clear of some of the more 'exotic' tax havens...I don't know about you, but I wouldn't sleep well having my money in a Panama Bank.
Also, Uncle Sam has a pretty long reach, and can do quite a lot of arm twisting regarding Caribean Banks (they often have US branches)

Also, In order to take advantage of these interest rates, you are first probably going to have to do a currency flip e.g Sterling or Euros(this is how these accounts offer higher rates)

Philip,

If you are trying to hide assets, make sure you do it in a semi-clandestine manner. Siphon it out gradually. It is very tricky to do and can bite you in the ass if done improperly. I would STRONGLY suggest you get some hard core banker to help you on this. At the end of the day, they're very much worth the coin they ask for.

I dare not ask what you are hiding your money from, but there are tax shelters to help you if Uncle Sam is getting the better of you. :-)

Cheers

Dan,
I'm interested in taking advantage of interest rates, and hiding assets......not necessarily just outside of the country, but from my limited knowledge that seems to be the most common way.....any ideas from all would be appreciated. Please feel free to send me a private e mail....

I haven't seen any offshore accounts that pay that. In fact the offshore banks usually pay less than a standard account in the U.S. ( at leas the ones I've looked at ).

If the offshore accounts are paying 7-8 percent, it's usually in a country that is subject to a currency fluctuation where you might actually lose $$ by putting your funds there.

Actually Id be interested too. I have a small account aside that I just put money in and never take out. Its growing like a snail with the interest rates I have so if I could get 7 or 8 percent safely (dont want to loose everything if the bank failed) then I would be interested too!

What exactly are you looking for? Are you trying to hide assets, or take advantage of interest rates, or just keep funds outside of the US, or??

Does anyone know how exactly to open up just a "regular" savings account, at an "offshore bank" I don't know much at all on the subject, but I've heard some of the banks in the Caymans and the Bahamas have interest rates of 7 or 8 percent.....is this true....how does one open an account? Is it safe, does any one have any experience, help, advice......
