Congrats Brian. Incidentally, I see from your profile that you live in STL; did you attend
the European Car Show at Frontenac? Ron

Great thread...!!!

One of my clients recently sold me back his 1990 911 C4 Cabriolet because he just picked up his 300hp WRX STi.

What a car......looking out over that 6-Pack styled hood scoop gave me Mopar flashbacks like I've never had before.

That's great news. Contrats on your new car. I've driven a few & they are a blast to drive. Did you also get your FREE one year membership to the SCCA?

Congrats Brian. Lovely ride. I went with a friend to pick his up friday. Also silver. Amazing performance for the money. Sick how cars are offering so much value today. 300hp, no turbo lag, awd, HUGE BREMBO brakes, 4 doors, AC that works, amazing for our winters in Canada, Reliable Japanese car...HELL, what the F%*k did I just do, buying 2 Ferraris? I need 1!

Curmudgeon mode on:

When I was young, my friend got a "new car" from his father.

It was delivered in crates. (Some assembly required.)

My first machine was a '55 Chevy my friends and I built from scrap parts for the drag strip, two years before I was old enough for a street license.

Two suggestions:

(a) Get the shop manuals for the car while the dealer still has them. Then study them. It will help when some mechanic tells you that your car has a bad dumbsucker valve.

(b) Stay away from the movies for a while. ;^)

Enjoy your new car. But there's some fun in a group of friends restoring an old, say, Triumph Spitfire.
(See Robert Frost's "The Road not Taken".)

Oh well, I suppose if you need a DIY project you could always build a cruise missile ;^) ... or a jet powered beer cooler. ;^)

HEY GUYS!
Yesterday morning I got my own car! At 11:00 central time, my parents suprised me with a 2004 Subaru WRX. It was the most exciting moment of my life. I am sooo excited. I love driving it. Its absolutely spectacular. I cant get pictures of it, sorry, but you can picture it in your mind. Its a silver 2004 new body style wrx 5-speed.

My dad finally said that he was gonna go look at the car with me the day after school got out. I met him at the dealership yesterday, with my mom; there it was, soooo beautiful. It was raining, so they had it inside on the floor of the dealership. My dad was looking at it, asking the dealer questions, ect. He then said, Brian, this is the car you like, more than any other car? I said, yes, and he said, with tears in his eyes, "its yours" It was soooo unbelievable. I cant explain. I guess those of you who are fathers understand. I have only a few hours left to drive it before I head off to bermuda tomarrow!

Adios,
Brian
