Brian, I guess you missed last Sunday's 16th Annual European show in STL. There were about 17-20 Ferrari's, one of which was a silver 550, so, I'm thinking this was the one you saw. I don't think the owner visits this site yet. If you want to see more Ferrari's, the Ferrari club- St. Louis chapter, will have a track meet next month (July 12 Saturday) at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Illinois. Check their website out (www.fca-mo.org) if you are interested. |

The SMG M3 has a clutch, it is operated by hydraulics.. It is not a semi automatic with a torque converter... I was rather shocked with the speed and precision in which the SMG shifted... The 6 speed is more fun to me, but if I just wanted to go fast, or did track driving, the SMG would be the way to go... |

Okay, Vincent and Ryan are both right on the ball. I knew I had no chance, but I had to have my fun! The WRX is a low 6 seconds on a shot to 60, (with me driving), and that is absolutely no match for the 550, ill be the first to say that. It has 3 times the number of cylinders that my little baby has. I just thought it was fun, that he saw me, and acknowleged me, ect ect. I too have driven new M3's, I drove a White/Red SMG coupe, brand new, with only dealer miles, and I have driven a 2002 Laguna Seca Blue M3 convertible 6-speed. I must say that I had more fun in the convertible. Possible b/c it was a true stick, and possibly b/c we had the top down, and drove around the city. I think that car was ment to have a clutch. I dont have as much control over the engine in the SMG, IN MY OPINION. |

I agree, the WRX is an decent little car but to think you were keeping up with a V12 550 is just silly...WRX does 0-60 in 5.8 secs, shifting low on the tach, your were probably more like 6.5 - 7 secs and the 550 will do it in 4.3.... |

I also drove an E46 SMG M3 and my good friend has a wrx. The Rex is a great car, but the M3 is fast as ****. The M# with 333hp is amazing the wrx is not bad, but that M3 sounds great. But don't forget the price difference you can have two wrx's for one m3. Erik |

The Subaru WRX is a very nice ride, and I like the way it shifts and rides... But no, comparing it to a 550 is a joke... An E46 M3 will blow it away driven at only 75%... I drove them both back to back.. |

Guys, I was just headin up the street to a stoplight to make a left turn, and there infront of me was a silver 550 Maranello with missouri plates. The light changed, and he took off. I went quickly as well. We were both headed for hwy 40, (I had to stop by school, I had no idea where he was going, but he was gonna get on hwy 40 west). Heading south on hanley, he nailed it from a stop, so did I, except I had to shift much lower than he did, (im still breaking her in). Maybe he wasnt pusing it, I wasnt really either, but I was able to keep up with him, for the most part. It looked to me like he was driving pretty agressively, lots of quick lane changes, ect, and when that happened, I stopped trying to keep up. (I would say I kept up with him for about 3 minutes.) When I gave up, he shot foreward towards the on ramp, (going like 85 in a 40) (I never went higher than 45 in a 40) It was a great experience to say the least. I want you all to know that I am being safe with my WRX, and taking good care of her! I am only 16, and want to be safe, while still have fun. I think this morning was a great example of that. The man in the ferrari seemed like he was having fun with me too... Just thought id share my story. ANYONE DRIVING A FERRARI IN SAINT LOUIS, LET ME KNOW!! ( have seen 2 550's in the last week, red and silver) |
