never been to Coyote Valley - just Targetmaster's and Sunnyvale Rod and Gun Club. Maybe we can plan a little get together at Coyote Valley sometime. |

Either of you ever been to the coyote valley sporting clays? I'm a novice when it comes to firing (went to some indoor range in Milpitas twice ...don't recall the name), but I went to this place with a friend who hunts. Holy cow it's fun! Went twice more with other friends - trap and skeet shooting (didn't hit the course yet), but it's definetly a good time! --Dan |

Yeah, I go to targetmasters. I just bought my first gun a few months back. I bought a .357 Magnum revolver. I'm thinking of getting a rifle now. Cheers |

LOL - like you're name for Milpitas! Don't know how long the smell is supposed to stay, but I imagine a while. Which range you go to - Target Master's? I shoot there once in a while. What kinds of guns do you have? Last time I was there met some guys - one of them works at Kerley's sporting goods in Cupertino. I went rifle shooting at Sunnyvale Rod and Gun Club with them. I like outdoor ranges, and it was a good one. Since it worked for Dan in the other thread- how about responding to my last email when you get a chance |

Mil-PIT-ASS!! Yeah, but I knew why that stank. I try not to go there if I can help it. Friend of mine worked at Redback and would not stop complaining about the stench. I only go that way when I go to the gun range. Salt eh? Geez. That's an awful smell. How long is it going to be that way? Cheers |

Heard it has something to do with the reaclaiming of the old salt making marshes. Basically there are a bunch of huge "ponds" that connect to the bay that they used to seal off and let the water evaporate - leaving salt to be mined. Now the salt companies have sold the land back to the government, who is trying to restore the area to its natural marshy state, which is causing all kinds of funky smelling stuff to grow. Supposedly good for the environment in the long term, but its going to be hard to undo 100 years of salt mining. What about the stench from the Milpitas dump? On 880 right at Dixon Landing Road exit it can get downright nasty - especially when it is hot and you are stuck in bumper to bumper traffic. |

I live right by 92, and I noticed that as soon as you cross over to the Alameda county line, the water turns murky. ;) This seems to be the general concensus, except of one sole defendant of the East Bay... a good friend who needs an even better examination. --Dan |

I didn't mean it quite like that. I was heading from Palo Alto over to Fremont to visit a buddy of mine. By the time I crossed over to the other side there was a really foul stench. My friend tells me it has almost always been there and that in warmer climate the smell gets worst. What is it? Nasteeee!! I don't get that smell crossing the 92 San Mateo bridge or the 80 Bay Bridge. Cheers |

...on the east side of the Dumbarton Bridge? I had the unpleasant experience of driving through that area with the windows down and the lid off of my car (targa). Geez talk about an offending smell! What on God's green earth is causing that funk?! Cheers |
