I laughed when I read the first post, I never would have beleived it, unless I saw it for myself a while back. Who in the heck writes a check for $2.00???? I think I have at least $7 in change in my ash tray(non-smoker kinda guy)but sheez! 2 dollar check??? c'mon! The 'elderly' should look into that experiemental pay option like that in the Bay area with the Rapid Trans boxes. Those who do not know of this technology, a transmitter box is placed on your mirror or visor. When you pass a toll both, the signal is recieved and a unique ID is recorded allowing you to pass through the booth without stoping to pay. You eventually get the bill at the end of the month for all your toll costs. A new avenue with fast food drive-throughs allowed you to order and drive off. You get the bill later. That way... THEY CAN SPEND ALLLLLLLLL THEIR SWEET TIME AT HOME AND WRITE A BLOODY CHECK! (lol, yeah, it bugs me too holding up the line) |

I'm with Tony 100%. In California, you can use ATM cards in the quick-check lanes. I see this all the time. Whats worse is the extremely elderly people that practice this that are SOOOOOOO slow at punching in all their numbers! It really breaks the spirit of 'quick-check', but the poor store has to kiss every customers butt! |

Living out here in Asia, almost everyone prefers to pay cash. I tend to forget the plastic angle until I'm back in the states and everyone is using their CC's, DC's or checks. I rarely see anyone in America pay cash for anything. |

I pretty much do 99% of transactions with credit card. Went to London a few years ago with around $100 in my pocket just in case but hardly spent any of it - all credit card. Back home I'll buy gas, groceries (yes, even bread and milk), and restaurant food with credit cards. The only thing I don't use the credit card for is fast food (unless it's over $10). The lack of cash in my pocket drives my wife nuts. |

One other thing I do is if I actually need cash for some reason, I'll buy something ultra-cheap so I can get cash back. That way you avoid ATM/bank fees. |

Aside from that, yes. I would make a $2.00 purchase with a credit card for the most part. Keeps my accountant happy and if it's a business expense, it keeps him even happier. Easy to keep track, I have accrued enough free gas from the Shell card to drive to Argentina and back, and enough miles for all my business trip and vacation flight needs. Cheers |

Pat, My wife does the food shopping. Otherwise I'd have a pantry full of junk food. So...no. I don't buy milk and bread with a credit card. Cheers |

LOL, Pat...! i do the same thing... Use my "full access" checking account Visa whenever possible... It makes things easier... Also, it keeps some cash in my pocket for any emergency that might arise and using a credit/debit card is not an option... With that said, i have absolutely no cash in my pocket right now, "just in case of an emergency..." lol... |

I never carry cash, only a debit card. Routinely make purchases on the card costing >$1.00. Lowest ever was $.36. Cash/Coin Money = drum brakes: they work, but there is something better. |

I try to buy everything with a credit card. Helps my credit and I rack up mileage, gas, etc. Cheers |

I'm with Tony on this one. I was stuck behind some jerky in the drive thru that was paying by yes a Credit card!!! Debit cards are fine but are you really going to pull it out for less than 10 or 20 bucks? (Maybe I should have phrased that differently about pulling it out I mean) |

What about those of us who carry a debit card so we don't have to have cash? |

I am tired of standing in line behind a person who is writing a check for $2.00. If you do not have $5.00 in your pocket stay home! |
