Tony..Thanks..It was not meant to be a pitch, just helping out! Over the years, I have seen so many 'sales shows' come to town and most are a joke. All of these promoters want to make sales clones out of everyone. Everyone has their own stlye and personality. I teach people to use their existing traits and weed it into a good sales model that works for them! |

Matthew...I am in the process of a book on sales. The problem and common thread I see with most sales seminars is the fact that they are presented by people that will tell you to do it their way because that is what worked for them. This approach usually works for a small percentage of people in a group. My book is geared for the novice to the pro, pointing out the basics of dealing with people, getting people to like you and proper ways to close and retain business in ones own style. I may be able to make some time to talk to your staff via a conference call for an hour and a half. I feel that a round table chat over the phone may be a great forum. If you are interested in this idea, please send me an email at [email protected]. I feel I will save you a great amount of money and produce better results for your staff. We will need to spend time prior to a call to cover the details of the topics you need to hone in on. |

Oh, and one of my favorites: "Knowledge is the key to sales" - product, competition, etc... |

While working at Merrill Lynch, they provided Dale Carnegie training. Since the training was mandatory, most of the Broker's were upset that it took time away from prospecting/research/making money. Unfortunately, that translated into poor attitudes from a lot of the class. I got a few interesting tid-bits out of it. However, judging from the people who made it in the brokerage business, I think salespeople either 'got-it' or don't. You could explain sales techniques and everything needed to close a transaction to someone and they may still never become a great salesperson. I'm not sure if it's worth the money. I got more out of discussions with a senior broker who motivated me and taught me a few lessions. 1)Ask for the order - don't expect someone to ask you for it. 2)You only get what you ask for in life, be aggressive 3)Honesty and integrity can never be bought or sold 4)"no" doesn't mean anything personal and isn't always permanent - don't be afraid to ask again. 5)Overcome objections with questions that will steer your prospect into making the decision you would like. 6) People do business with people they like. |

I'm sorry for the off-topic post, but I'm asking this forum because I would imagine that members here would have some experience with sales training. In my business, I've got nine customer service reps and three managers (including myself) that would really benefit from some sales training. We had the local (Pittsburgh, PA) Dale Carnegie franchisee come in to pitch his seminar. It sounded great, but it was REALLY expensive. So... 1) Has anyone here gone to a Dale Carnegie seminar? Is it worth it? 2) Does anyone have any tips on negotiating a lower price from them? Is their business much slower now that it has been? Could I use this to get a better price? How low (percentage wise) do you think they could go? 3) Could you recommend any other sales training seminars? Skill Path? Padgett Thompson? Fred Pryor? Thanks in advance! |
