Yes I have heard the 954RR will make you feel/look like a hero. You talk of the R1 yet almost all magazines rank the Gixxer 1000 as the 1 liter bike to beat. I am still undecided as far as choosing a 600 over a 1 liter. I do not want anything that approaches the Hayabusa. I want something that flicks. I have an occasional friend who is into every type of organ donor bike. His list of bikes is like famous actors cars ! He has had them ALL: R1,MV,998R & a Z06 car etc .... This single guy spends the bucks on bikes. "Lucky" He has rode virtually every type of sport bike. Any opinions also on the Gixxer 750 ? Perhaps that is a nice decision that is just about in the middle ? It should have nice power for the street and will handle excellent. Again it is very close to the 1 liter bike. |

Ralph, I didn't mention other bikes like the 954, simply because you didn't have them on your list. Regarding track times on the R6/R1 being similar, that is probably quite accurate for most tracks - however - the R6 has enough power to break the tire loose, and on a track you're always going to be in the "meat" of the RPM range. That means the extra power the R1 has isn't really usable, and often becomes more of a liability because you're feathering the gas trying not to light up the rear tire, while the guy on the R6 can just mash it and not worry so much about overloading his tire. However On the street, it's a WHOLE different story. The R6 "feels" gutless until you really wring it out, whereas the R1 has power everywhere. I have to disagree with the twin comments. Let me put my flame suit on first... Ducatis and Aprilias are nice for people who care more about what everyone ELSE thinks than they do about the performance of the machine. Stock vs stock, not much is going to touch a 600 or 1000cc bike from any of the big companies - certainly no duc or aprilia is even going to be in the same ballpark in terms of track times. And yes, I have ridden an RSVR and a 998 on the track back to back with my R1. But I digress. On paper, the R6 is very close to the R1. On the track it holds up. On the street, it doesn't. Why not ride them all and choose the one you like best? |

If you are a Ferrari fan (which I assume you are), you should go with a Ducati. 996 model is a good one to consider. |

Taek: I regret I did not win the R1 lottery. I am not sure I want another power monster bike. That is why I am leaning towards the R6. The only thing ~ once more the GSXR 1000 is all of 13 pounds more weight vs the R6. * You do the math * Dave I will have to wait on another ( closeout ) deal to come up with a MV. Perhaps there is another deal similar to Taeks R1 grab coming down the pipeline ? I know a rider in Houston that has one. Beautiful bike and then some. I had a 748 Yellow Mono. This was a nice bike. It had no guts above 130 mph. I just felt the R6 would be fun to have with the Hayabusa. A salesman at the Yamaha dealership claimed the R1 and R6 have very similar track times. Yet the salesman had no more R6's to sell !!!! He had a R1 on the floor. I did mention I did not want to track the bike. I suppose I need to ride both bikes. decisions, decisions +++ Thanks for all the posts. |

Ralph, You could've had the R1 I was almost giving away here on FChat not too long ago if you would've asked earlier! R1 was great and everything, but why are you going to get another power monster if you already have a Hayabusa? I test rode the R6 before purchasing the R1 and preferred it much more to the 600cc. R1 is a very flickable bike, compared to the Hayabusa. Actually compared to just about anything on the road. I would personally go with a Twin like Aprilia's RSV Mille or Ducati's 999. Fun bike, usable torque from the twin, makes all the right sounds and looks real nice. And a different experience from the 4 cyl. models. Cheers |

I love the new R6. But I prefer the egronomics of the F4i. That's if i was buying a supersport. |

I have a turbo charged Hayabusa and I bought a 954RR a few months ago. The 954RR weighs the same as the 600RR and has more grunt. The GSX-R has more hp but I found the Honda to be a good canyon and track bike and errand getter. Big plus, it's very easy to do triple digit wheelies, if that is a source of fun for you. Some of my mates ride Duc's ,MV's and the they spend way too much time on maint. instead of riding. Love Japanese bikes for that reason . You can ride hard, park the bike and two weeks later you can jump on it and ride away without leaks and dead batteries. But I will say the Duc at peak rev's sound pretty good. For me it's not worth the pain in the ass to keep it running to be worth it . Ride hard ,ride fast. WFO |

There isn't THAT much difference in handling ability between today's literbikes and the 600's. I don't think you or I could tap into it - especially on the street. On the street, I think the big Gixxer 1k will be the most fun. 600's are Ok, but again unless you're tracking then you won't see the difference. What about the new R1? Sweetest looking bike out there today, IMO. If I was getting a 600cc today, I'd probably go for the R6 or the new 600RR. |

Greetings: I have a Y2K Hayabusa that I am going to keep. I would just like some opinions on another fun bike to purchase. I am considering the following bikes: Yamaha R6 GSXR 1000 GSXR 750 The weight of all these bikes are quite similar. I am NOT interested in tracking any of these bikes. The power of the GSXR 1000 must be very entertaining. The R6 must eat the corners alive. I know the GSXR 750 may be somewhere in between. Please kindly give 2 cents of information. Thanks Ralph |
