I had to USE a laundromat while in Italy last week. Very different from our machines in that you put the money in a central control unit which operates all machines (like a vending machine) and you push the button of the number of the machine that you want. They also use VERY little water. They did a great job though, got out all lipstick and liquer stains before I came home. |

Back onto the coin operated business topic. I use to work with a guy who went to work for his brother. His brother owned several dozen of those little coin operated air compressors that are at convenience stores for filling up tires. Since most corner gas stations aren't actually gas stations any more, they're just convenience stores that sell gas. So he and his brother travel around to all the convenience stores where they have these little coin operated air compressors set up. They make a pretty good haul. And they're selling nothing but air!!! I know another guy who has about 75 very small canned Coke/beverage machines set up around town in office buildings. This machine has 3 selections and sits on a table top. He has a partner and they spend each day making their rounds refilling the machines and collecting the daily cash. He buys Cokes and other soft drinks any place that has them on sale for cheap and keeps them in storage for refilling the machines. They are their own boss and he does OK.

Kenny, I often use the term cash cow. Has it fallen out of favor now? Is it uncool to use? As a matter of fact, I used it last night over dinner with an acquaintance. Cheers |

Bruce and Kendall Of course I am different. I purchased a Bull. You all have such clean minds. Did'nt you have some fun when you used to go out and do laundry ? Remember your college days ? Besides what are you supposed to do? Read some old newspaper ? I have not done those things in years. Kenny I cannot comment on your post. This is a family site. Besides as a Lambo guest I want to be invited back on this site ! |

Not to hijack this thread, but does anyone have experience owning a Tanning Company....I've thought a lot about this. The industry is booming. It would seem like fairly low start up....10 beds at 2500.00 each and very low maintanence or overhead......any thoughts/experience.......I've looked into it a little bit, and I think I could make it work, but I don't know anyone who's "been there" |

I worked one summer for a pool builder and they did good work, but I think they were a bada bing inc. A little more subtle though. Our boss who was a bit, fat Italian guy chomping on a cigar would say to us salesmen. I need you guys to sell the model X water pumps this month because my "bonus" is tied to selling so many of them. SO not really crime, corruption etc, but more of good ole boy system with kickbacks. |

No friggen idea... maybe 10,000 sq ft?? I never been there,,, just heard it takes up the whole entire block... When I asked why?? my uncle said, in urban areas, it's the only way to generate good revenue by going BIG... Who knows, maybe he did some research on this.. |
