Dave, Couldn't resist! Actually, I think that self-assessment applies to most people. In the context of smaller, more heated discussions, one's extreme side shows a bit more than it does in their normal lives. That normal life, however, is probably more accurate of their general sentiment. And you're right, it's hard to argue with fact and common sense. --Dan |

Dan, LOL! Actually, no. IMO, common sense doesn't have a political affiliation. I am actually much more moderate/libertarian if you were to sum up my points of view on a whole range of topics than I might appear in snippets here. |

Dave, Too true about the Halliburton deal. I'm not sure how they can justify that. Wonder if there will be any sort of fallout from this... doubtful, as people seem to be more concerned about an inconsequential book. The Dems couldn't do a better job of pulling attention away from the real issues if they were actually trying. As for the false and misleading information, I'm just calling it like I see it for now. I feel a bit used, as someone who was all for the war effort, given the reasoning leading up to it (in particular, Powell's UN speech). However, the smoking-gun document that turned out to be a student's essay, the CIA analysts coming forward talking about how they were pressured into tilting their reports, the POW "rescue" wag-the-dog story, etc all push me towards being highly skeptical about the whole thing. I really hope we find what we're looking for. I'm not going to go on about bashing the administration and hope they fail. I just think that the "abolutes" we had a few months ago are turning more and more into "maybes"... Either way you look at it, our intelligence was either wrong or just really bad. Neither option is very comforting. I'll stay off the deficits for now and see what happens. One thing that bothers me though is that people like to attribute the economic boom of the 90's with the Republican congress, but when the topic of the downward spiral comes up, people are so quick to point out that it happened when there was a Democrat in the white house. While you didn't touch on the first part, I'm sure someone's thinkin it... Now what REALLY bothers me is this Patriot Act stuff. I remember when the GOP used to be about personal freedoms and small gov't. Now we have the biggest gov't ever while cutting back on personal freedom. There's just so much important stuff going on these days, but the news would rather spend time talking about local kidnapping cases and advertising Hillary's book. We're still fixated on the relatively minor things the last president did in comparison to the major things the current one is doing. For some reason, this stupid Laci Peterson case is getting more coverage than some of the important world events that are occurring. Ah well. -R |

Robin, these questions are very valid, as Ms. Clinton wants to be president one day. As to your points: soma are also valid. IMO, it was EXTREMELY dumb & suspect to award Halliburton that no-bid contract. I am a Halliburton stockholder, and I still think it was dumb, at best. False & misleading information? Care to PROVE that accusation? My advice: let this play out. In a year, if nothing found, you may be right. Now, all I can say is that neither younor I know the truth, and your shrill accusations help nothing. As for the deficits: a big problem. Remember, the economy began its rapid downward spiral in MARCH 2000, a year before Mr. Bush took office. I hope you are not allergic to this FACT... Subsequently, our country suffered an unprecedented attack which accelerated that spiral. So, lotsa spending for the Afghan campaign, security measures, multiple unemployment compensation extensions, large grants to the states for Medicaid. Medicare, and Homeland Security programs, etc etc etc. Now, from your post, I assume that you think all of these expenditures are stupid? Just wondering. |

Yup, it's a good thing that all we have to worry about now is the little stuff, like wars started over false and misleading information, multibillion dollar sole-source contracts being handed to the VP's company, record breaking budget deficits created in 2 years... How could we possibly handle another sex scandal? -R |

Monica was the olny smart one. She knew her dress had Billy all over it! She saved it for the right time to pull it out of the closet. As for Hillary, she is as much of a crook as Bill is and his legion of followers. It was absolutly disgusting to have that bunch in our White House for as long as they were. |

How about asking Hillary a few of these questions, Ms. Walters? Do you believe Juanita Broaddrick's allegation that your husband raped her? White House lawyers have acknowledged in court documents that you approved efforts to trash Kathleen Willey, who accused your husband of sexually molesting her in the White House. Is that true? At an August 1992 American Bar Association convention, you praised Anita Hill, saying, "As women and lawyers, we must never again shy away from raising our voices against sexual harassment." Why didn't you raise your voice to help Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey and Juanita Broaddrick? Author Gail Sheehy, who's generally supportive of you, says in her book "Hillary's Choice" that it was your idea to hire San Francisco private detective Jack Palladino to mount "a sub-rosa, black arts campaign against the women." Is that true? In her book "The Final Days," the late Barbara Olson said your husband's pardon of the Puerto Rican separatist FALN bombers encouraged terrorists like Osama bin Laden. Was she wrong? Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Elizabeth Ward Gracen and Juanita Broaddrick have two things in common. They all accused your husband of sexual impropriety and they were all audited by the IRS, which was run until late 1997 by your good friend Margaret Milner Richardson. If four of Richard Nixon's chief accusers were audited by his IRS, what would you have said? Your brother-in-law Roger Clinton can be heard on an Arkansas State Police surveillance video repeatedly using the "N" word. Why have you and your husband never condemned Roger's outburst? If you're not running for president in 2004, why do you keep showing up at all these presidential candidate forums? How could a smart woman like yourself really believe that your husband, with his history of cheating, was telling the truth when he told you he didn't have sex with Monica Lewinsky? On the night of your good friend Vince Foster's death, White House phone records show that you called Harry Thomason, Maggie Williams, Susan Thomases and Bernard Nussbaum. But there was no phone call to Foster's grieving widow, Lisa. Why not? Why have you never apologized to Westchester County police officer Ernest Dymond, who was injured so badly he couldn't return to duty for weeks after a driver rushing you to an Oct. 14, 2001, fund raiser sped through the airport checkpoint he was manning? Minutes before you accepted the nomination of your party to run for Senate at Albany's Pepsi Arena three years ago, some of your supporters spit on a state police honor guard carrying an American flag. You and then-state party chairwoman Judith Hope promised an investigation to ferret out the guilty parties. What was the result of your investigation and how were the cop spitters punished? Four witnesses have accused you of using anti-Semitic slurs, which you've denied. And Morris - who is Jewish by birth -said that you once responded to his request for a raise by saying, "Is that all you people think about is money?" - a charge you've never addressed. As a laywer, if you had a client who was contradicted by five witnesses, who would you tend to believe? In 1989, the NAACP in Arkansas sued your husband and other state officials for intimidating black voters at the polls. And other reports say that then-Gov. Clinton supported racially profiling Hispanic drug suspects during the 1980s. Why didn't you do anything to stop these practices? You've worked closely on a number of issues with Sen. Robert Byrd, who's now head of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee. As you know, he's a former Ku Klux Klansman who used the "N" word on TV as recently as two years ago. What would you say if Republicans allowed an ex-Klansman who uses the "N" word to continue in a leadership post? Do you agree with your husband that oral sex isn't really sex?
