Back in 1996 when I graduated I had several job offers. I would say graduates would be dispersed between family businesses, accounting, retail finance, middle management, and marketing. I think that's pretty typical of a business school. We had a few go investment banking, but for that type of job I think you would be better off with a Wharton school piece of paper.

Babson was perfect for me, but I am probably in the 0.0001%.

I talked to Babson at an MBA career fair a few years back, and walked away with a bizarre impression... The career service director was the representative, and when I asked about a few different career paths for Babson grads such as banking, consulting etc.. he just laughed at me, and said those companies don't even recruit here anymore...not in this down market, and this was 2-yrs ago, before the economy is what it is now...

I never ended up applying..

"tried" LOL

I really don't think he was trying to do anything illegal, just dumbly fell into it. I can relate to him... young, dumb, and very motivated. Here you are an uneducated poor student in the surreal world of Babo with all these successful parents, professors, alumni, and guest speakers around you. Tunnel vision takes over where I think he should get a A+ in marketing. F's in several other things.

This is great, here was my response to Jim when he emailed it...

LOL - Babson is the #1 rated Entrepreneurial school in the country. I think this kid went a little overboard though, but I believe his side of the story. Each student is required as a team to start a business as a freshman for a class they call FME (Freshman Management Experience). On top of that students are encouraged to start their own business throughout school. They even provide retail space if you pay the rent. I started a business called Babson House of Sound that sold music retail. I sold out after two years. It's just the culture of the school and to take risks. I really believe this kids story about contacting airlines and I'm sure he had good intentions, but looked like he ignorantly broke some laws. We all know that's not an excuse.

You should post on FerrariChat.com in the Off Topics. Call it "Babson College student breaks law - Rob's College". Several other FC users are from Babson like Bruce.

Thanks for sending the article,

As you know Rob and some others are grads of Babson. Well one of your own has been busted for building a fake airline. See attached article.
