Definitely golf if you're into it... Some great courses on Maui. Last time I was there I stayed at the Grand Wailea; stunningly beautiful.

Lahaina has some great shopping as well - the wife will love it. If you're into Cirque du Soleil at all, Ulalena is a permanent show in Lahaina that is owned by one of the CdS founders and is in the same style. I loved it, but I'm a big fan...

I rented a black 348 spyder, when I was there 2 years ago. I believe it was from Island Riders although there is another place that has Ferraris (Hawaiian Riders). Had a great time driving it! I just wish the speed limit was higher.

Don't worry about driving it on the road to Hana, because you can't! When you sign the agreement, you are prohibited from driving the car up there, period! (they weren't kidding)

We stayed at the Sheraton as well. Great place. We did the parasailing thing at Lahaina harbor, and the helicopter ride. The chopper ride is AWESOME. They also have a submarine ride at Lahaina if you prefer that as a vantage point for underwater life, rather than snorkeling. We are going back in Oct. Apparently the Halloween Parade in downtown Lahaina is a must see. I didn't rent a Ferrari this last trip but I did on a previous trip to Oahu. It wasn't a great car. An old 308 not very well maintained. Hope you have better luck. By the way, Where are you staying? We have a membership to a travel club and they have a place called the Maui Banyan. I was hoping someone knew something about the place before we make the reservations.

Jim,
I have been to Maui twice.

WINDSURFING capital of the WORLD!

Kihei is the best place in the world to learn to windsurf. Take lessons if your interested. Kihei is the best place for beginners and otherwise because of the steady winds and fairly flat water.

Now to watch the best windsurfers in the world NO Kidding go to the other side of the Island to Hookipa (spelling) 30-45 minutes away. and see where only professionals windsurf jumping and flipping waves higher then your house! Take binaculars if you have them cause they are a little ways out there.

Take a chance and do it only with lessons if your athletic and swim well! You will be adicted I promise! Otherwise to watch just go sit at Hoopika beach and watch in the afternoon when the wind picks up. Oh, Dallas believe it or not has nice windsurfing.

Next Golf and a helicopter ride around the island is well worth it.

Have fun.

Me toooo, leaving Mon for Maui. Two weeks, 5days at the Sheraton on Kaanapalli, then moving to the Ritz Carlton for the remainder.
The Hana trip is long. Don't rec going w/ the hotel group in a van, drive your rental.
If you like sushi the Ritz has an outside chef(spacific days) brouhgt in and prepares delicious meals in the lobby while you enjoy Hawaiian music/singing.
The Ritz also has a golf driving range if you desire.
Go to the beach at the Sheraton to snokel. You will see giant turtles swimming.
Downtown Lahaina for Ruth's Chris steaks.
Molokini for snorkeling--a must do.
Roy's Restaurant for great seafood.
Enjoy.

Leaving at 7:15am. Taking Ferrari Rental info. I have a Chrysler Sebring Convertible rented for cheap from a friend at Dollar Rental. Might rent a 348 spyder or 355 spider for trip to hana.

Thanks for all the info and suggestions!

Jim..First off, you stink for going to Maui and not taking all of us! If you have a motorcycle license, rent a Harley in Lahaina and take the trip to Hana. If you drive it and your wife gets car sick, don't do the trip.

Jim,
Hang out in Lahaina at night. Lots of fun places and the Main drag has some pretty neat stuff cruisin.
Do the bike ride down Haleakala (sp?). They pick you up at like 2am from wherever you are staying take you up to the top of the volcano to watch the sunrise then you ride a bike for many miles from the top of the volcano to the beach. You only have to peddle a couple of hundred yards the whole trip. We did the bike thing the first night/morning. I am in the eastern time zone so it is 5 hours earlier in Maui. The 2 am thing was like 7 for us.
I rented a Harley there and tried the road to Hana thing. It is several hours of dreary humid going 10-20mph hell. It was cool at the start but then it became like the old Hollywood backdrops. Curvy road, waterfall, curvy road, "oh look another waterfall". Repeat. We turned around about halfway through and it still took us like 4 hrs. I think the big attraction at the end of the road is an old church.
We went to Safeway in Laihina and bought some steaks, shrimp etc. then went to a park on the beach just between Lahaina and Kaanapali. Grilled out and had a great time watching the sunset.
We rented the Harley from Island Riders in Lahaina. They have exotics for rent there too. When we rented there they were great to work with.

They rent a few Ferrari's on Maui too. The road to Hana would be awesome with one. I spent about half an hour drunk in the back of a mini van with someone on my lap on that road, DON'T DO THAT. It was a terrible experience...

Are you going to visit on Oahu at all?

The road to Hana is a blast , try to attack it early before the crowds hit. Two lanes mostly great corners, Rent a fun rental car , Have a good navigator and take course notes ( I have my own notes they may not make any sense to you).Pretty scenic i'm told , never have really taken a good look . No margin for error on some corners. Watch out for the black sock crowd , they drive like they have the parking brake on constantly.

Go up to the volcano. Also visit the hippie town(can't remeber the name), it's rather interesting. Ask around people will know what it is. If you go to a Luau, go to the Old Lahaina Luau, it's the best of all the islands.

Jim,

It's relatively small and you'll more than be able to cover it in a week. Try getting over to Wailea, especially take a peek (and/or have drinks or dinner) at the Grand Wailea (and be sure to use the restrooms with the steamed towels and orchids!). Lahaina is a fun place. You could also head up to Hana - beautiful. Maybe you could talk Tony into showing you around!

Wife and I are heading to Maui Sunday for a week. Staying in Kihei south of Lahaina about 15 miles.

I went there back in 1989, but I am sure things have changed. Any suggestions on things not to miss?
