To be honest, I find the rearview visability to be quite poor. The car drives very nicely though. |

It's nice to be talking about a "Chrysler" in positive terms for a change. It will be a good car for their brand. It's definitely different looking, but I'd like to see it in person before judging. But besides the wheels, how about rear visibility? From the rear 3/4 view, it looks like there is a huge blind spot looking back from the driver's seat. Anyone drive this thing yet? Does it drive like the SLK too? |

The wheels are quite large in diameter. 18" fronts and 19" rears. I would not want to get a flat! |

Faisal -- I know what you mean about the lighting in that top photograph artifically exaggerating the effect, but even in the other views the rear tire-to-fender gap seems larger than the tire sidewall height. I just think it would look better with 17"~18" rims and a little more bulk to the rubber. I wouldn't argue too much with your "ungainly" -- but it's certainly "distinctive". I agree that the centre console looks great. I don't mind the steering wheel that much, but the seat bottoms do look a little plain IMO (guess they couldn't taper them towards the back since it needs to fit the wide-a$$ set). That wide-bright windshield frame is a little bling-bling for me too, but maybe on a lighter color it's not such a contrast. Probably not on my future radar screen (unless you could bolt in their new HEMI ). |

Steve, there is a flat part to the body right around the wheel well which is not reflecting, and therefore does not appear to be there. If it was missing, as it seems to be in the photo, then yes, it would look terrible. But it is there. Or do you mean that they look like wagon wheels despite this? I still think the car looks ungainly, but I am glad that new, different stuff is coming out. I do like the centre dash a lot. The seats look nice too. The steering wheel is hideous, IMO. What do you think? Rgds, Faisal. |

(First, let me say that I think that Chrysler should get a lot of credit for introducing new/different coachwork designs and I try to follow the principle "if you don't have something nice to post, don't post anything at all", but) When did the fashion-mavens decide that such super-super-low profile tires with gigantic wheels are better? Sure, I like the look of 16"-17"-18" better than 14" wheels/tires, but those look way out of proportion in the other direction to me (like wooden covered-wagon wheels). I especially don't like the air gap between the rear tire OD and the rear fender being larger than the rear tire sidewall height. To me, those Crossfire wheels look like the (oversized) collar on a late-'70s leisure suit -- am I alone on this? |

Cool looking car. Just put a supercharger in it (it has a MB engine, after all) and it'll probably be a pretty good performer. Maybe that's what they intend to do later. |

I like it but it's $30k. I thought when it was a concept it's price was going to be in the mid to low 20's |

What market is Chrysler targeting with this vehicle? Are those 20" wheels? Is it a hatchback? If they were going for a "different" look, I think they achieved their goal. |

Kinda cool lookin. But what about performance? I think one of the biggest mistakes made with the PT Cruiser was not to get out in front of the car with performance upgrades and appeal to the gearheads from the get-go, sort of like old detroit, where you could order your lemans lame-0 or GTO-0. |

I test drove one of these last week. Rear visibilty is awful! There was an obvious similarity to my girlfriend's SLK but it did feel like it had a little more leg room. At 6'1" I can never get the seat far enough back in the SLK! Fletch |

JT, The price on the sticker is a little over $35,000. I've noticed that a lot of the Chrysler Dealers have already put their first Crossfires on Ebay (where else?) and are getting some good bids. I'm not sure if we'll go that route, but I know production is somewhat limited for this first year. We'll see how they do. |

Saw a silver one with a buyer's tag on it day before yesterday. It is actally a pretty small car. I hope it does better in the resale dept than previous Chrysler offerings. Looks kinda cool. |

It's made by Chrysler but it's actually built at the Karmann Plant in Germany on the Mercedes SLK platform. It has all of the bits from the SLK including the drivetrain and suspension. I think Chrysler did a good job of designing a new body for it though. Neat car. |

Here are a couple of shots of the brand new '04 Crossfire that was shipped to our dealership yesterday. It isn't a Ferrari but it's pretty cool anyway. I thought you guys might appreciate it. I think it looks the best in black. Sorry the pictures aren't that good.
