WM - many thanks for your kind offer! Sent you a PM.

I like to wear driving gloves when I'm doing some "spirited" driving, as I'm usually concentrating so hard that my hands start to sweat. Don't want to make the slightest mistake from a little slip at triple digit speeds, but I tend to agree that they are a little "flash" for everyday use. As such, I went with some black P-gloves without labels.

Whart - that's very kind of you, thank you, very much - i'll be leaving immediately after work. :-)

What do you mean you don't have the 550 anymore...?!?!? How did i miss this...? Was it a weekend post...? Why...?

Beyond funny - more towards eerie that the subject of driving gloves should come up; the last few days, i've been wearing my Porsche driving gloves (last week i wore my Ferrari driving gloves - i like to alternate:-))... You should wear them- guaranteed, once you drive with them on, you'll never drive 'naked' again... i prefer leather for the added grip they provide, although, i've never used seude, which is what those appear to be... i have an extra, unused pair of Porsche driving gloves that, should we ever meet, i'd like to you try (if you're a size medium, of course:-))... Otherwise, go to Wilson's Leather and pick up a pair that's more, um, 'fitting' for you, for $25 - give them a test drive (sorry, couldn't help it) and see how you like 'em. i haven't driven bare-handed in years... i won't so much as park a car without first gloving my hands... i remember my first pair of Ferrari driving gloves- i slept with them the first night i had them...

...um... any, back to the Porsche... :-)

DES: its funny, those gloves were a gift from my law partner, the Chuckster. I have carried them in every ferrari i've owned, but have never worn them. These modern cars, which don't have wooden steering wheels, don't seem to need them, and i feel like a, dare i say the P word, POSEUR wearing them on the street. As to what to drive, there is little question (i got rid of the barchetta) so its the GT-2 for fun; my wife's WRX if i want to go to the store; and for schlepping into the city, i drive the BMW. I'm sure another ferrari will be in the stable sooner or later.
Btw, the house got sold. We bought an old Greek Revival on the Hudson River with spectacular views, a pool and, yep, a 5 car garage. If you can get to Westchester, you've got a ride.
Thanks for the award, Doc. I'll put it with my NAMBLA membership card...

i'm green with envy... What a gorgeous car - hey Whart, nice driving gloves, too...! Gotta love a driver who wears driving gloves...! :-) Did they come with the car...?

When do we get a detailed DEScription of what the ride is like...? i'm salivating in anticipation... Um... one more thing...

...how do you decide what to drive, now...?

P.S. Nice crib, you should call MTV...:-)

Whart or Chris, I still have the Nov 27, 2000 issue of AutoWeek which has the 550 Barchetta on the cover. It compares it to the V10 Porsche Carrera GT. The article is titled "Sex in the City". I'll drop it in the mail if either of you are interested... just email me with an address.

WM - forgive me if I'm waaaay behind, but was that your 550 barchetta in Forza way back when? I love the car and article and the backgrounds in your photos look familiar. Wish I could have seen the R&T article as well...

Best,

WM - I am at my desk, where I have that pic of your 550 Barchetta out of Road & Track, being parked in your garage at night. That was a sweet ride. But your GT2 looks gorgeous as well. We'll have to do another road trip sometime.... Congrats on the new ride!!!!

Yeah, i heard the weather sucked this week, just as it has for the past few months! I picked the right week to go away. Only got rained on forw a total of maybe 20 minutes in canada (if that), but once was a thunder storm while on a lake, still a 20 minute ride to the lodge! I guess i'll take 50-60 and sun over 70 and rain! Its supposed to clear up and be 90 though this week.

yeah, sorry, i drove it home last saturday in the pourin' down rain, and when it cleared Sunday, i spent the whole day driving. This weekend has so far been a bust; its like a tropical storm here in NY. If we get some sunlight tomorrow, i'll take some pics. Then you guys will have to help me post em cause i'm a loser when it comes to that. I am starting to get used to the shape of the thing sitting in my garage though. Its alot smaller than the 550, and lower too. (kendall: a GT 2 P- car, silver/black)

As soon as the weather improves I'm going to head up there and get some nice shots- it's basically been raining for the last 3 months- it's supposed to clear up Monday-Thursday though so maybe Will and I can work it out...
