Scott you are young. Do not worry. The game is not over. Just make sure you work on this "now." Do not wait and look back when you are 70. Art said to use your head to good use. Not everyone has that option. You have a fortunate option. |

Art, I wasn't directing any anger at those of you who have made it in life and enjoy the fruits of your succes. I'm talking about college students driving brand new e46 m3's, s4's with rs4 mods, and one of my classmates who went through 4 cars in one year and now drives a 996 c2 with mods. I actually already sent you a pm a while ago, but I will certainly send you another one. I actually haven't taken the bar yet, so I'm not licensed...long story. |

Scott, Arthur is correct. Your success or failure is up to YOU, not others. |

Scott: You have a license to practice law. Use your brain, put your education to work, and maybe you'll earn a few dollars in the process. I'm one of those guys with a few dollars that you're upset about. Didn't start that way, but earned the money. I earned it by using my brain to figure out a nitch for my services. If you don't do that, you'll be a failure at life. That would be a shame. If you want some suggestions, drop me a note, and we can talk. Art |

DamonB..And we wonder why people go Postal! I actually like the self-service check-outs. I use them at Home Depot and they are great. I always seem to be in the line that when its my turn to check out, the register tape runs out and its the clerks first time changing one! Its that or at my turn, a new clerk comes to the lane and they have to do the money drawer swap...AHHHHHHHHHHH! |

I had an old lady in front of me in the express lane at the grocery store. She was trying to use coupons older than I am! Here's your 50 cents lady, GET ON WITH IT ALREADY!!! Those new do it yourself check out lanes at the grocery store. DAMMIT I HATE THOSE DAMNED THINGS!!!! They force you to use them by having 10 lanes closed, one lane open with a checker has 10 people in line and then only the do it yourself lanes are left! You would think an intelligent person could use them but there is always some problem whenever I am forced to! A grocery-type person walks up to me while I am waiting in a short line with an honest to goodness check out person. She proceeds to tell me the diy lines are open with nobody in line. I told her "I know" and continued waiting. She tells me there is no line over there and I again inform her "I can see that". She grasps my cart and tries to lead me there. No! I will not go! Let go of my cart lady! I asked her if my food is cheaper when I go through that line. She looks at me quizically and replies "no". "Then I am happy to wait and let someone else who never has to fight the scanner check out and sack my food." Why do we as free Americans stand for this? |

Anthony..The only person that can motivate your wife to start a business is herself. If the motivation is not there, it won't work. If you can swing real estate, go for it! Another idea is to do what I did: Find an existing retail product with a strong market and make it better (quality, packaging, etc) and less expensive to the consumer. That is exactly what I did with my business you can see at www.performancedevices.com. Best of luck |

OK, I hate my job so much that I wish they would fire me but they won't because I work for state government. I have a good entrepreneurial mind but I have been here for the last 10 years and I have gotten lazy. I really want to open my own automotive parts business but I keep wallowing in my own self pity so I won't get off of A$$. I also have a friend who has become a millionaire in the rental property game trying to teach me the ropes but it seems like I can't get my wife on the same page to help me start looking for property. She wants to open a store that sells loose tea and all of the accessories that go along with it. We saw a store like this in Atlanta that was doing extremely well, but I can't get her off of her A$$ to get started either. She is also a disgruntled state employee. Well at least we are still under 35 so we have lots of time. I'm still looking for that reset button. I feel so much better now. I like this thread.

Ok, Im tired of all these pissing contests on this board. Cant we all just grow up and respect each other? This is a WONDERFUL site, but lately idiotic threads have been taking over! So my advice, if you have something mean to say or something detracting from the overall quality of this website, SAY IT BY E-MAIL! That or just let it rest....Dare I say please? Edit: Btw, I know my post is sort of hypocritical...but its not geared twoards anybody in particular. |

According to your rationale, everyone over the age of 20 who's dated and had ex-girlfriends and ex-boyfriends are theoretically second hand rejects left by someone else... You should be dating virgins !!! C'mon, grow up, if someone dumped their 355, or 348 to trade on a newer 360 or 575, does that make used Ferrari's a second hand castoff?? If that be the case, I'll gladly take someone else's 355 off their hands, and date girls who were rejected by someone at some point in their lives... (which is pretty much every girl in my age group)

"If she were a REAL friend, she'd hook you up with someone nice so you can be happy" On the other hand, if she were a REAL friend to her girlfriends, why would she want to hook them up with a guy who did NOT meet her own standards? Are her friends so desperate that they want her second hand cast offs? That's the oldest dumping tactic in the world. "Maybe I can fix you up with some of my girlfriends." Translation: You're not good enough for me so I'll try and pawn you off on somebody else who has lower standards than I do. If you're not good enough for her, you're not good enough for her friends. Walk away from the whole bunch and don't look back.

Hah Kendall, well she had her reasons. I still love her as friend...cant stop that. Her choice and I respect it. She really is a nice girl. Besides, its better to make friends than enemies. About finding a girl, Im looking. I think ill volounteer at the animal shelter --lots of cool girls there. As far as the gym, Ive got that covered pretty well. Dancing --naaa...the only dancing I do is the waltz, but the girls that do that are about 40 years my senior The weird thing is, Ive met lots of women who are interested in me...but (I dont know how to say it politely), they have...problems...I think they are insane. They mean well though, so I cant hold anything against them...So I just stay polite and try to remain a bit distanced from them so they dont get too emotionally involved. I seem to be a magnet for slightly off girls. Its confusing

I just need a date. I havent had contact with a girl since October when my girlfriend dumped me (after going out for several years). I could write an essay on that experience but I wont...we are still friends so I cant say anything about her No respectable girls seem interested in hanging out though...go figure |

Scott...Sorry to hear about your layoff. The 'the reset button is on life' is governed by your own positive mental attitude. I am 44. I have had my share of layoffs. I have learned from each one. The main thing that I learned is that there was always something better for me around the corner. The last three times I was let go, I took it really hard. After each, I found a better job that paid more. I ended up meeting new people that gave me more opportunities. I would be excited to get fired now! I would just pee in my pants with anticipation of whats next! Remember, good things come to good people. You have to smile and move forward! You will prosper in the end over the 'rich kids' and their $50K cars, for they will never understand hard work and sweat....Keep the faith bud |

my turn... So I got laid off on Friday, and am now unemployed. I have over $150k in debt (education and credit cards). I can't pay my loans back. I can't get interviews. Of course, that doesn't stop the Dean of the Law School sending me letters asking for a donation. FVCK HIM! When I get a job, I might consider giving them 1 penny. And even then, I doubt it. I have wasted the last 4 years of my life. Joy. While in the past 4 years I had lost 100 pounds (297 down to 197), I have now put a good chunk of it back on as I screwed up my ankle and knee. As I was already depressed about not finding a job while in law school, depression sat in and I started eating junk again. I'm sick and tired of rich kids. They really tick me off. ABSOLUTELY no god damn idea of what the real world is like. I was smart enough to earn admission to two rich kid schools for college and law school. I am amazed that there are people who are 18 driving $50k cars. I am amazed at how many of my peers can simply live off their trust fund. Or maybe I don't know what the real world is. Maybe the real world really is about sucking on the tit of success your parents have. Maybe it is really about having your dad set you up with one of his buddies. I thought there was still some room for people who were hungry and hadcapabilities. Whatever. Merit is dead. well, I don't really feel all that much better...anyone know where the reset button is on life? |
