On the Cayenne engine topic, I believe that Porsche outsourced the manufacturing of many/most of the Cayenne's parts to VW, however, there was much debate internally concerning who would build the engine. In the end they took the opinion that the only way it could be a Porsche is if it had a Porsche engine. |

I drove it, it has an adjustable air ride suspension which makes it drive real nice - interior was nice and spacious, has a nice trunk for what I would call a midsized SUV, acceleration was really good and good responsiviness from the throttle, limited body roll in a pretend slalom course I did, brakes seem weak but that is prob because they were not bedded yet, great suv, but for the price there is a lot of competition. |

Why does everyone forget about wagons? With the thrift and utility of the WRX wagon, anyone claiming they need a utilitarian, 4wd winter hauler has no excuse. I hope the SUV market DIES. |

SUVs are great if you actually have to do WORK with it instead of just drive around, and dont want a pickup or a van. You cant carry tiles, cement, wood, glue, grout, windows, tools, doors, equipment, etc in a sedan or a minivan. Ernesto |

I will see what the wife thinks, I am no fan of SUV's but this one looks cool. I need the 4 wheel drive to get up my driveway in the winter |

YUCK YUCK YUCK Why buy a SUV ? Especially one that only seats 5. Most all sedans will seat 5 and are much safer than SUVs, plus they look and perform better. Further,if you need more than 5 person seating, get a minivan instead. They too are safer and look better. IMHO, the only reason to buy a SUV is IF you need to seat more than 5 AND you need the towing capacity of a truck. In that event, get a Suburban. |

Never mind Tom. I was thinking about the VW sedan that is competing against the 745i and the audi A8. not the SUV. |

the cayenne starts at 340hp with the non turbo engine so it looks like diff power plant. The vw does have the 6 speed auto tranny |

The one they had there did have all the options which brought it up to 50k I think they start in the low 40s, still a nice chunck of change. not sure if the same engine - I am pretty sure it is not turbo charged but will check |
