Hey, don't encourage the Portugese wines. Too many people are catching on to this little secret, and prices are starting to reflect that! |

If you like reds. I'd recommend an Amarone. Very good with a filet mignon or red sauce. Or if you prefer some cheese and olives and have a second bottle for back up. I've had it from both Cesari and Bolla. Also Barbera D'Alba and Brezza Barolo's are very good Italian whites- Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio. Can't go wrong with a couple of bottles along with shrimp and sea scallops scampi over a bed of linguine. I'm getting hungry..gotta go cook some pasta..Ciao |

David - good taste! Along the lines of Sassicaia. You must be familiar with Tignanello then. My Ferrari wine is from the Ristorante Cavallino -it's Lambrusco....I am not familiar with it. I am still on a quest to find a nice port that is reasonably priced. |

If we are talking Ferrari wines then we should mention Ferrari - Carano. It is a California winery and I have enjoyed both a Merlot and a Chardonnay from them. As far as Italian wine goes, has anyone tried an Ornellia ? It is a terrific red wine from the Tuscany region. It ain't cheap, but it sure is good. Vilamoura, I have never tried wine from Portugal (other than Port), I will make an effort to do so in the future. I have also heard that wine from Georgia is fairly notable.(the Soviet one, not the US one) Have you ever tried that ? Here's hoping that I have contributed to your holiday cheer. |

A wine every Ferrari lover should be drinking is Testarossa. Check out www.testarossa.com. They make wonderful Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs and have excellent ratings from the wine press. |

I want to kick myself for saying this - since I want to keep it to myself - the BEST wine in Italy is Quinterelli - go for the "Reserva" or Alzaro" Liquid gold! 78 Petrus - no thanks - overpriced next I prefer Tignianello (sp?) as for whites - "Greco di Tufo" |

Try a Barolo if your looking for a good Italian red. They're usually expensive, but we had one a couple of weeks ago that was great. Sorry, but I can't recall the name. I've heard that the traditional wine in Maranello is Lambrusco. Tried it once and didn't like it, but I should probably try another. |

Hey Chris, what was that you tried to attach to your message? Some customized Ferrari shields on some wine would look great in my cellar.... |

Pinot grigio is great. I guess it's considered white. Asti is good if you're wasted on something else. |

you can get Ferrari sheilds on a nice bottle of wine and personalized ... The label would look good in your wine tasting room.

I'm not a big fan of whites, but I am a big fan of Reds. The only Italian wines I can really speak to are the Chiantis. My wife and I brought back about 6 bottles from Florence and we always had a bottle with supper while there. Now that we're back home we'll order a Chianti at Italian restaurants for the full Italian effect. However, I prefer the Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon grape over Sangiovese. |

What Italian wines do we prefer? Reds? Whites? Gives us your favorite, then your favorite of the "other color" if you have one. I like the whites, esp a Pinot Gris. If you want, I'll look up the vintnor, if I can find the label. Most of my discussion here takes place from work, sorry. Can't even answer my own question. |
