Whenever that is, I will be the first in my neighborhood to get the new Spider to replace my trusty '83. |

Rob, check the most recent issue of AutoWeek (Sep 16). There is a small article in the "News" section that covers this. According to the article, Alfa will return to the US in 2007. It says the delays are caused by 1. developement of models engineered to meet US safety and emission requirements and 2. Fiat lacks the money for a marketing campaign required to reintroduce the brand to the US. The vehicle that will most likley launch the return will be the new Spider, followed by the 156 replacement. |

Rob; Alfa is part of Fiat and has been for quite a bit of time. Alfa is considering re-entry into the US, but as of last week has delayed the go ahead for the project another 2 years, so it could be as late as 2008 now. Part of that reason was who would distribute the vehicles. GM was a possibility, and FNA did not want to as of now. |

I was reading a trade mag that made it sound like Fiat owns Alfa. Is that true? Or does Alfa just want to use Fiat as a distributor in America? Also sounds like Alfa is considering selling about 25k cars a year here starting in 2005-2006. |
