Let's see some pics of that Indy, Rodney. I'm still waiting on the Khamsin. Some guy in Fla forgot that his Viper was coming. I hope he remembers which side is the right side of the road. Looking at Wed or Thurs delivery. |

I just got back from Keels & Wheels. There were some of the nicest Maseratis in the country attending. Including one of the most beautiful Mistral Spyders I have ever seen. Of course it was another K&K car. They did give me several pointers on my car. My car is now a 85 point car. With their pointers it will be a low 90s car. That is about all it will ever be. I don't want to make it so nice it's no longer drivable. |

Great! Thanks for the info Doc. I thought this was the same car from KandK in Houston. I had seen it in the Sportscar Market last month and this month. I find the car to be very pleasing to the eye and the Maser V8 is fantastic powerplant. Just spent all of Easter weekend in a very very nice 1970 Ghibli! |

Rodney - Your correct. The Khamsin won Best in Class at Keels & Wheels in May '01. I hope you enjoy yourself there this weekend with your Indy & Ferrari. |

The Khamsin is coming out of K&K Vintage Motorcars, who represented the Vintage Auto Heritage Foundation in Houston. Car has about 50,000 miles (I wanted a "healthy" engine that was regularly driven). PPI was done at the other largest Maser collection (which is also in Houston). The photo that I posted was from the '97 Maser Miglia in Colorado. The hydraulic system will pose an initial challenge since it makes for hypersensitive steering and brakes. I'm told that at higher speeds the 2.0 turns lock to lock makes it handle like a race car. The car was the last of Maserati's front engined GTs. Weight distribution is 50%/50%. It has independent suspension. The car was designed by Marcello Gandini, who also is known for the Miura, Countach, Diablo, Lancia Stratos, Bugatti EB 110, Fiat X1/9 & Alfa Romeo Montreal. Gandini was the "King of the Wedge." My car has a red leather interior with a small +2. The car is appreciated for its sheer looks. Road & Track called the Khamsin "an ego trip on wheels." |

I drive my Indy to work frequently. You need to find a California car that is rust free. My car had some rust bubbles in the hood ( There is insulation under the hood that retains water). I am just in the process of having it fixed. It is a great City car. Much hotter off the line than my Ferrari. Now to answer the Khamsin question. The Khamsin is one of the best every handling Maseratis. The car has the Citroen self centering steering system. Yes there are 5 spd cars available. The 73 Indy also has the self centering steering, but very few were built. |

I would not use MIE for parts on any GT class car. I would purchase parts from the factory authorized parts source Campana in Modena. http://www.campanacarrozzeria.it/. They have NOS parts for anything you might need, for a price that is normally 50% of MIE's. Just talk to Sylvia she speaks perfect English.

What's maintaining an Indy like? Parts? MIE? reliability? Corrosion? Can use every day? I've always liked that car. |

How do the Khamsin's handle through the twisties? Do you know of any 5 speeds around? There seem to be a handful of Automatics on the market. Who's reliable & reasonable for servicing in the NY City area? |
