1. The dealers have one. 2. They are the same 3. 15-20k miles. Low rev low speed 1st gear saves it. Clutch replacement should be 6k-8k. Yes for resurface and Al Burtolonni (sp?) makes aftermarket parts for them that are better then factory 4.no and no 5. You could be a new one for the cost of the retrofit 6. Al Burtolonni (sp?)

I see alanlambo is here... you still have your lotus? We miss ya over at the viper forums ;) Anyway, if anyone can shed some light on these questions, it would be greatly appreciated! 1) Is there a fix for the hard-to-lift or saggy early (91) Diablo doors? 2) Is the bolt pattern/offset for early diablos different than later years? IE: Are the wheels interchangeable w/o modification? 3) With average use and feathering of the clutch off the line, how long should a carbon clutch replacement last in a early car? Average cost is around 8-9K installed correct? Also, can the flywheel be resurfaced local, or is there an aftermarket alternative available? 4) Do the engine bay cover panels (sides) and airbbox from later models drop into the early cars? What about the long engine cover w/ the firing order and bull? 5) Is the power steering of newer cars able to be retrofitted into the older ones, or is it a hopless+costly cause? If not, is the early diablo too difficult for in-town driving? 6) Are there any aftermarket suppliers of parts or places with OEM other than dealers? Thanks James |
