I used to have a 1986 VS, it got quicker as more bits fell off! Loved it though. |

How about a Ferrari V-6 powered X1/9? Go to www.engineswaps.com and follow the links to the Fiat section. |

Rodney: "...I have seen quite a site a 2.0 litre in an 850." Hehehe, that's fast. I'd love to get my hands on the real one, a Fiat-Abarth 2000 OT America that is... (Top speed: 145mph... in a Fiat 850 Coupe! ) |

An ALFA V6 in an X? I know of a couple in Scorpions, but an X? Wow tight fit. I have seen quite a site a 2.0 litre in an 850. |

Practically all of the ones I see at Ebay don't look promising either. I guess it's not worth it after all. Thanks. |

Tillman said it well. One of my techs has a gold one as his daily driver and he loves it. He is building a race only X1/9 for auto crossing. A very nimble car. I have seen photos of an Alfa V-6 installed in an X1/9. Could be a lot of fun but would be very time consuming.

Very slow, but so much fun that I didn't really care. Handles like a go-cart and the top comes off. It was a great college car, but mine suffered from the dreaded "previous owner" and ended up costing quite a bit (for a broke college student) to keep running. Not shown in this picture was the two spare parts cars we kept in the back yard, because parts were impossible to find even back then. The 1.3 was an interference motor, which means that the engine breaks if the belt does. The later models have the 1.5 and the 5 speed, but suffer from typical 80s Italian fuel injection. At the time they were just cool cheap cars. These days I don't see them around much, unless they've been in the hands of a collector and restored. There's probably a ton of them just rotting away somewhere for the lack of a $50 part. Still, you can probably buy a nice one for the cost of the major on our 328s! |

I've alway wanted one of these. What was your overall experience with the X1/9? Were they reliable, fast, etc., or were they just trouble and unreliable? Thanks. |

I found this the other day. It's just a photo from 10-12 years back of my little brother, me and my dad with our little Fcars. Those things were a blast, but sadly they all ended up leaving eventually. I know my brother would like his green one back... Just thought someone might get a kick out of this.
