The other choice would be a Zagato. Although they are front wheel drive, they handle great. The nicest Zagato anywhere on the planet is for sale here in Dallas. It is powered by a Turbo Delta motor. Yes it's also the only Zagato that I know of Turbo charged. The interior was done by the Ford design studio. The car is flawless and all leather included a padded targa top. It is owned by one of our http://www.maffiacarclub.com members. He wants 8K for it. He needs room for his 124 coupe race car. Probably the nicest coupe on the planet but thats another story. |

I had three Scorpions. I would look around for a scorpion that has had a 2 litre installed. I would also get one that has been chopped by one spring. My 16V scorpion was like driving a 200HP go cart on the street. I would play with Ferraris on a regular basis. The only reason I don't still have Scorpions is the clutch position. The fire wall comes down at an angle. If you have long legs it make you shift with your knee being forced to the left. For people with normal knees no problem. For people with a bad left knee not very good... Traded my 16V Scorpion to my mechanic for the work on my Maserati Indy. So it went to a good home. |

Thanks for input. I want RWD so the Zagato is out, so far one Scorpion i looked into was not up to snuff. I know the brakes on these are weak an probably slower still than the X. |

Lancia Zagato Spyder is nothing to get excited about. FWD, blech... Although the targa/soft-top roof is cool. Trim/body parts for Scorpions are much harder to find than the X1/9's, but the Scorpion is like a mini-Ferrari - more space, luxurious leather upholstery, neat folding soft-top roof. It would be just like a Ferrari if you hop-up the motor (40/80-80/40 cams, Dual 40IDF's, high-comp pistons, etc...) and thankfully, there are plenty of suppliers for that stuff... |

I had a Scorpion in the 80s and loved it. If memory serves, it was significantly more roomy than an X1/9. Be very careful with rust on these cars; I've seen several California Scorpions that had much more than you would expect. Rod |

Im thinking about buying one or the other. Ive owned 3 'X's before so im familiar with those. Main question is roominess of Scorpion compared to X1/9. There are a few for sale of each in NY. I want to use it for track events an such. Like the fact that the Scorpion is old enough to be exempt from smog testing here, all the X's ive seen that are any good are newer. |
