Its in fantastic shape Arlie. I know you made an earlier comment that you prefer more of a "project", but, are you going to bid on this? |

He bought them in the USA when the $ was way down a couple of years ago (it is down again now). What I know of them is that he bought them for himself but I checked his website and they are for sale. www.stolzeclassiccars.nl The guys name is Joop Stolze If you go to his website, click on "Auto's" in the top right corner, select "Apollo" in "Merk" and it will return a 5000GT That one is completely restored but it says he does have a second one that needs work. Good luck! Jack |

What condition are they in? What kind of price are they bringing in American dollars? Strange that there would be any overseas. I thought that the bodies were made in Italy and then shipped to the company in California where the bodies were installed on the American made frames. Strange that some were re-shipped back to Europe, or perhaps some bodies were installed on other chassis in Europe? Who knows. Do you have any other info on those cars in the Netherlands? As sold in America, the cars had a 215 Buick engine installed. What do those cars have?

Arlie, would you believe that there was a red Apollo sitting in the back of the Carrera racing shocks company in Chamblee GA several years ago. I went and checked it out, and that is exactly what it was. AND it sat outside!! |

LWayne, I must have missed it. I do a search quite often on E-Bay but guess I still missed it. The problem with most of the more "above board" cars is that they are always restored with a price tag to match. As you know, I prefer cheaper projects. For every restored car of any make, there should be several unrestored hulks just waiting for a fool,...er, I mean an enthusiast like me.

There was a restored blue one on eBay not long ago. I'll see if I can find a link to it. |

A few months ago, LWayne informed me about the Intermeccanica Apollo as being the strange Italian coupe being raced against the Volkswagen in Herbie, The Love Bug. I have been doing some researching and looking around trying to see if I could find one of these cars for sale anywhere. Other than one ancient internet listing, there seem to be none out there. Apparently the car was also called the Vetta Ventura in its final production days down in Texas. It was made in two models; the 3500 and the 5000. Has anybody even seen one of these for sale? I wouldn't mind finding a beater needing resto. Any info or sightings out there?
