Eric,

My brother purchased the CLK one year ago. The main differences :
- the Maserati is sportier with a better handling (better suspensions, 50%/50% weight)
- you can feel the road (skyhook is a great option)
- although the MB's auto gearbox is excellent I love the cambiocorsa gearbox
- the sound of the two cars are nice, but I give one more point to the italian in high RPM
- the MB soudsystem (Bose) is far better than the Maserati system ('waiting for the new-one from the factory)
- my wife loved the MB (so powereful and smooth in the same time) but hates the Maserati (too sharp/virile)... still trying to convince her to test the 2003 software upgrade... she's stubborn...
- I prefer the beige interior of the Maserati, and my wife prefered the grey/black of the MB... she's from Antwerp in Belgium more german than me, a french speaking swiss (=Latin)...

For my opinion, they are to great cars for different tastes. I found the shoe for my foot, and my wife too, she's driving a MB ML400Cdi...

Regards,

Lionel

Lionel, sweet car(s), both look great in black! You have probably already mentioned it, but do you still have the AMG? If so, can you give me a rundown on how they compare? I almost bought a 2003 CLK AMG, but backed out after I test drove the Maser. I am curious to know what I am "missing" My old CLK was a slightly more predestrian 430, so I can't really compare...

...but red for you and black for me.

Kenny. You're right about Bailey and Werner, very cool guys. Arriving as 20-somethings in jeans and rather casual attire, my girlfriend and I were pleasently surprised at how attentive they were from the very beginning.

And even though I won't be buying another car for several years at the earliest (particularly a Ferrari), Werner is always quick to talk shop about the cars and how they drive. Ofcourse, I am sure he's also trying to line up a future sale, but I like it nonetheless.

Nope, you're right (as far as I know). I basically grew up with Werner and have known Bailey as long as he's worked there- both class acts.

Yes, I took those pics at Miller the day I got it. That place is the ultimate toy store if you ask me. Bailey was my salesperson, and he was very helpful throughout the whole process. I think he is the only Maserati salesperson there, but I could be mistaken...

Hey folks. I just realized that I haven't posted any pics of my Maser. They are below if anyone is interested - taken back in December 2002 when I first got it. First pic shows my trade in..

Thanks everyone for the comments. ELI, I'm hoping to place an order next March for delivery in June which is when I get to turn my '99 996 back in to Porsche. Long story, but it's had an engine rebuild due to engine cooling problems, which is why I was a little anxious about the maser. I'm hoping to get a similar discount off ordering - to offset the special order Ferrari titanium color paint.

My car is in Miami Florida & it gets plenty hot there. The car itself has never overheated, even after extended hours of motoring on highways & in traffic. The AC works fine too.

Murray, mine is not a daily driver and even though I live in NYC, we see some hot and humid during the summer. And even though NYC is not as bad as TX, I previously lived in FL and LA, and I still remember what REALLY nasty hot humid nasty feels like. So basically, I think I have a good frame of reference.

As far as the AC is concerned, I have no complaints. It pushes a nice amount of very cold air. The only time I have needed the fan and AC at full blast was when the car was parked uncovered for four days in 100+ degree heat (in direct sun light by the beach). After the initial 10 minute cool down period elapsed, I had to turn it down because I was turning blue. For back seat passengers, the rear vents (2) are very handy. One bit of advice I have is to find the temp you like, then put the fan on a manual setting/number you are comfortable with (not automatic). I think the system is at least as good as my previous car (MB), and perhaps better. Though I have no direct experience in TX, I think you will be OK. But since I havent had the car for too many summers, I cannot attest to the long-term reliability of the AC.

As far as engine cooling is concerned, I dont have much advice to offer, but it has never been an issue for me..

Yes. I use mine every day as a daily driver. The AC very good and the car never overheats. I like mine very much. The Nav system is also very good.

I'm interested in the Maserati Coupe Cambiocorsa as a daily driver. Does anyone have experience with this car as a daily driver in a HOT & HUMID climate like Houston, Texas. Are the engine cooling system and air conditioning up to the task? Any other comments about the car as a daily driver would be appreciated. Thanks!
