From what I've read Audi had a lot to do with the design and build of the QP body and chassis so it should be top notch. I'm on the list to buy one to replace my M5. But, I'm still a little leary as to whether it will hold up for the 75k to 100k miles I usually put on my daily driver before replacing it. My M5 now has aroud 70k miles and it has been trouble free and is still worth over half what I paid for it. I wonder if the QP will be able to match that ?

Hey, don't shoot the messenger! That what I was told. 600 cars for next year.

the sticker on this car is really going to be under a 100k. I'm surprised, that is the one question i didn't ask.

I think the 600 unit figure is for the initial run.

Also, what is the actual MSRP on this car? One source said $80K another said $100K. Which is correct?

600 are slated for NA

are you sure about this? i find this very hard to believe. if you assume that NA will get 25% of production, that's only 2400 worldwide units per year. and my understanding is that NA is a serious target market for this car, so it might be more like 33% of produciton, or only 1800 cars worldwide per year.

that seems awfully low. why would they be trying to keep production down on the masers as opposed to minting cash (assuming the demand is there)?

this isn't a ferrari. this is a VERY busy marketplace (MB S, Audi A8, BMW 7, etc.). this isn't the exotic sports car market.

Vincent, thanks for the additional details. I like the QPs interior seam work a bit better than the piping in the coupe and spyder. Regardless of how many test miles Maserati has done on the QP, if I were in the market for one, I would skip the introduction year just to be safe! But I guess thats a good strategy for the majority of first generation models. I cant wait to see one in person.

Willis, your post is on the mark. Of all the cars I have had (2 Hondas and a Benz), my Maser will provide the worst (mileage-adjusted) resale by a nice margin. Ask me if I care

The interior was awesome. The seats have very nice leather, they are comfortable but are bolstered well. The steering wheel can be adjuste to any position you can think of. All of the controls are well placed and nicely accessible. The fit and finish, wood veneers, and switches all feel very solid.

They suppsoedly have over a million test miles on the car. But I forgot to ask if that's on 100 or 1 car. It took them 3 and half years from concept to build. 600 are slated for NA, and I believe all of the ones alloted to FoSF are sold already.

Willis:

I have a Toyota. You are correct in what you
say. Purchase a used Toyota with 30K miles from
an old lady. Sell it after driving it for three
years. You will basically have the car for free.
Less taxes and insurance. This is a mechanics dream come true.
Nothing to fix !!

What about Maserati ? Anything to Fix ?
Now check out the AARP publications under moving
sale.

Ralph,

If depreciation is THE primary concern, this car, or any high dollar car, shouldn't even be considered. Probably better off buying a 10 year old Toyota. :-)

I am sure it is a nice car and all.
I don't want to ruin the party.

What will it be worth four years down
the road ?

How much are you going to lose ?

the fridge is purportedly an option and it replaces the middle seat of the three-abreast in the back. it might only be an option on the long wheelbase model, not the regular model. but don't go trading stock on that data.

i'd love to hear more about the interior....

Vincent, thanks for the pics. Did you get to sit in it? How was interior build quality? How durable does the leather look?

A 'fridge? What's the dilio with that?

Very nice car!

Interior is awesome, very tricked out without the sense of buttons and crap everywhere. Though the refrigerated compartment between the seats is a bit much.

the car looks agressive, nicely styled. Same size as a 750 but it clearly is not one.

I like it.

My 70k miles M5 is due for replacement next year. I would love to own the new Quattroporte if it not's going to depreciate like a rock. Unfortunately from the massive depreciation of the new Coupe and Spyders, the Quattroporte will too be worth 1/2 its MSRP in less than 3 years.

Jim, I agree. I wouldn't mind some of that AWD either, but I digress.

I don't plan on getting one these any time soon, but I will probably test drive one to see what happens when I stomp on the throttle....

Now that Maserati has announced a tech alliance with Audi hopefully they will come up with a nice auto trans to use in this veh. which IMHO needs one instead of the F1 box with "auto" mode.

In the video, you could appreciate the curves of the car much better. Muscular and aggressive. The light silver one on the spinning platform looked especially good.

I must say that the more I learn about this car, the more I am warming up to it... Of course, I am not in the market for a gigantic sedan. At least not yet...

Now that the Frankfurt Auto Show has begun, Maserati has updated its website with details. Some interesting stuff.

If anyone is/was actually there, your comments are appreciated!
