Yep had several Stratos and 037 models. Gave them away when I sold my Scorpions.

I am leaning more towards a B24 Spider now.

On a side note, I was in Kmart a couple of weeks ago, and walked by an aisle with matchbox cars. Low and behold, standing right in front of me, was a Lancia Stratos matchbox (or was it hotwheels?) car for $1.00. I bought it, but I think I need the real thing to compliment it.

Wow! I would love to get a stratos, but always assumed they were out of my price range.

Now it looks like they are becoming affordable. Maybe in the next few years, I will be in the market for one.

Damn, L. Wayne, my wife is going to kill you :-)

Date: 7/30/1999

Not sold: $29,714

Date: 8/7/1998
Auction: Brooks Nurburgring
s/n 1609
66,000km
Not sold: $36,511

Notice that the same "as-new" car that brought over $100K at Monaco in 2000 sold for only $76,779 at the same event the following year.

Also, the car that failed to sell at a high bid of $29,714 in 1998 carried the following descriptions:

"Group IV spec, possibly raced by Vittorio Brambilla, on display for many years without restoration. Display paint. Needs complete overhaul and renewal before use."

"Most Stratoses are the homologation versions; the Group IV cars are very rare. This one, despite its long neglect, is a good value at a price that permits restoration. It's a $75K car restored; $100K with documented history."

There is one for sale @ MotorCar Gallery for upper 80s. I don't know where you would ever find one for $60K, unless of course it's a reproduction, probably ALFA powered. The real Ferrari powered cars go for 100K range.

I have seen both a real one and a very good reproduction up close when I attended the LANCIA UK AGM a few years ago. One of the members of this list Jeff Davidson is importing the kits. My understanding is you can build one for the upper 30s range.

60k??? I seem to remember that real ones were going over $300k? Have prices slumped that badly, or were you looking at a replica?

I've been a Lancia nut for years, owned seven of them at one time, but never a Stratos. There was one imported into this area, but the owner totalled it the day he got it, so I never got a ride. I have several books, magazine articles, a brochure, models. I'd love to own one!
