The V8 Maserati engines sound glorious. I'm dead serious, they sound like beefed up American V8s. I had a Borla system on one of my Quattroportes and it sounded like a Winston Cup race car!! |

For you QP guys, does the v-8 sound good? I've seen more than one rusted, but running quattroporte for under 2K. Figured it would be fun to transplant a small italian v8 with webers into something US. |

That is a good point Peter! I can put the bed in the trunk, and use the back seat as my couch! I saw that blue Quattroporte this past weekend, and it made me drool. I want it. |

I have to agree with Mitchel. I own a quattroporte that is a blast to drive. I had the entire car restored and painted Ferrari red. Look out for RUST. You will also have trouble with smog checks, since most of the cars are gross polluters. |

John, the Quattroportes are absolutely wonderful cars. I've had 2 of them. An 82 and an 86. Both black with the cinnamon colored interior. I sold the 86 with 105,000 miles on it. Once you have the webers tuned, the cars are virtually bullet proof. Watch out for rust, and be sure the interior is in good shape. If it needs a cleaning thats ok, but if the seats are ripped and faded, they are BIG bucks to fix. The early cars had a 4.7 liter (same as Maserati Indy) and the later cars had the 4.9 liters (ala Bora!). Only about 15 of all the 4-portes had a 5 speed tranny. 99% of them had the Chrysler Torque flight tranny. I absolutely LOVE the cars. You cannot find a more sinister looking sedan. They have balls too, nicely fast, sound incredible with a hearty V8 rumble and look like a million bucks. Fuel mieage is deplorable, but what do you expect for a 4300 pound car with a 300 HP V8. You can find them as cheap as $8000 (be cautious) up too $20,000 for the best one in the world. I sold my 86 for $15,000 5 years ago. I sold the 82 for $9500 3 years ago. Now I have a Jaguar XJS V12 convertible and the 308 QV. I love, love love Maseratis, especially the Quattroportes. Call me if you have any questions about them, and where to get it serviced. I have all that info for you. I will have another Quattroporte, oh yes, I will own another! Mitchel 678 427 7825 |

Mitchel, So tell me a bit about the Quattroporte. I'd kinda like to have a sedan to keep the 328 company. What should one pay? John |

Biturbos, especially the later ones are relatively reliable when they have been properly maintained. I would say no different from my 308 QV in most ways in terms of reliability. They are great GT cars. I used to own a biturbo spyer, she fies, in a straight line will beat my 308 flat! However, hit the first series of corners, and you have to be crazy in order to keep up with the QV. Go on a 300 mile trip and arrive fresh in the Biturbo, more than a little tired in the QV. |

Mohr imports around Monterey had a Maser, but it's not listed as of a few weeks ago, so maybe they sold it. I don't know which model, but it was a 1974. |

Hi everyone, I am in the mood again for another Maserati Biturbo. I have had 4 Masers. Two of them were Biturbos and two were Quattroportes. I sold my last Biturbo to help me get the 308. I had the 87 Biturbo Si with a stainless Borla, K&N filters, and some hot cams and let me tell you this, that car FLEW!! It was outrageously fast and loud...and I miss it. It never let me down! I want another one...preferably a 228 or a 430. If anyone knows of a Biturbo for sale, lemme know. I know, I know...I'm a glutton for more punishment right? I think a Biturbo would compliment my 308 and the Mondial very nicely! |
