All this talk about Jaramas. Why would you go for a Jarama over an Espada? I always thought the Espada was lovely, especially the S3.

Those are some hot looking Miura photos down there.

Dan the car is fine. I check the belt all
the time. It seems to be holding up as of now.
I would really like to take the belt off and
examine it. It is hard to run your finger
over the belt, and guess if there is a problem
based on feel. You can just barely see the
sides of the teeth when looking from above.
I suppose I have about 400 miles on the belt ?

Come down again if you have an opportunity.
We can go drive for an entire morning on a
fun run with other cars.

Dan I saw that. You are correct. You do not
want to purchase a driver for 18K when you can
find everything you want for 27K. It will not
take long to bring the (driver) 18K car level up to beyond the price of the 27K vehicle. Unless you spend a "ton" of cash, you "probably" will not have a superior car to the 27K vehicle after you dump money into the 18K car. It will cost the same to fix, restore, and maintain this car as any 12cyl Lamborghini. Some parts will be even "more" expensive. Good luck finding parts for an old handbuilt vehicle that only a few hundred were built thirty years ago. Just because it is inexpensive to obtain a Jarama, does
not mean it is inexpensive to maintain properly. It would be nice to pick up a Boxer, and Ghibli amongst other hairy chested reasonably priced classic Italian cars. They ain't cheap to fix.

This is a very bad problem facing the entry
level exotics. Entry level meaning the cost
of obtaining the vehicle today. It does not
mean a cheap car (entry level for the marque)
that someone purchased when the car was new. Collectors are allowing these cars to fade away. What happens when your superb F400i, M/Indy, and L/Jarama needs a complete engine rebuild ? The car is not going to be worth more $$$ (for the most part) after you just dropped a bucket full of money on your
mechanics desk. Are you going to unload all
that money on your car that is worth between
25-35K ? 35K is for the very best example of
these cars (low miles, papers, few owners, tool kit,
and originality etc..). Keep em running !!

Jarama S is a bargain priced 12 cyl GT car.
An excellent one is far less money than a
new entry level Lexus. Of course it is
a little less reliable than a new entry
level Lexus. The parts are also a little
more than an entry level Lexus. Lots of
bang for the buck. I would like to find
one. I posted awhile back on another L
board looking for one. They are quite
rare. I think the total Jarama production
is around 300 cars. Not many cars around
that are excellent with records of services.
Obviously the owners conclude: What else
am I going to get for "around" the mid 20's ?

Classic rear wheel drive, 5 Speed, 4 overhead
cams, real gauges, leather interior, sidedraft
Webers, and 12 Cylinders. All that for how
much ????

The Jarama S is a good deal if you can find one. Front engine V-12 with a 100dB howl, Gandini-designed, & 365 hp. A bit heavy, but reaches a true top speed of 160mph. Another Lambo "businessman's express."

Thomas, having only sat in a Countach once in my life, Lamborghinis are very foreign to me... i've never ridden in one, driven one and it's very rare for me to see one... i've only seen pictures of Jalpas, Jotas and the gorgeous Miura (Actually, there was a Miura upstairs at Classic Coach, but it was sort of, um... not all there)... Someday, though, that'll change, i hope... :-)

My all-time favorite Lamborghini is the Diablo Roadster; the Murcielago and Gallardo are nice (never seen a Gallardo in person) but the Countach is my second favorite- probably one of the most exotic-looking cars that will ever be built... (Still, for some reason, i like the Diablo more)...

Ah Shut Up Allan.

I don't know about all of the models 'pre-countache' being better. I really like the Countache itself, and the DIablo and Murcielago, (not feeling the Gallardo's appearence). But, No doubt, the most beautiful Lamborghini EVER is the Miura S. No Questions.

Yes, the best Lambo generations are pre-Countach... Miura, 350GT, etc.

i was at Bentley of Long Island the other night and, much to my very pleasant surprise, they had three generations of Lamborghinis...

Waaaaaay in the back, i spotted a red Countach; more towards the front but off the side, i picked out a blue Diablo; and still sitting on the left end, in the showroom, the black Murcielago...

What an awesome sight...! Sorry, pictures would've been worthless, but just imagine seeing these three great cars all at the same place, regardless of whether it's a dealer or not... It really made my night... :-)
