The last time I checked, it was about $1000+ for the full works. Now that Shimano has disk brakes, add a bit more. |

Rob: cute Ken: Campy did make specific mtn. bike parts. That's what the OR stood for (Off-Road). I'll check eBay anyways...but not now though...I have other parts to get (read: F-car). Don't get me wrong though, the higher up you go with Shimano, the better it is. I've mixed my XTR with other shifting components (Race Face rings, Gripshift shifters, etc...) and it still performs flawlessly. |

I've got Dura Ace on my road bike, I think the fans are 50%-50% Campagnolo vs. Shimano. I love my Dura Ace, but it's not Italian. Of course, I love my wife and she's not Italian. ;) |

EBay is a good source for old Campagnolo parts. I'm on the lookout for a Nuevo Record front derailleur (clamp on) for my early 70's Frejus. It's not the original derailleur but nothing else on the bike is original either. For mountain bikes, the old series Record, Nuevo Record and Super Record parts aren't the best though; they're more for racing. |

Going back a number of years ago when my wheels only numbered two, I was planning to build my ultimate mountain bike. At the time my choice was to use some of the Campagnolo Record OR parts (derailleurs, cogs, crank/rings, B/B,), but then they went ahead and discontinued it. I was left no choice but to use Shimano XTR. Did I miss out? Most agreed that the parts were too pretty to get dirty, but I wanted the best (and to have as much Italian on my bike as possible). Nowadays its only a Marzocchi Z-1 Bomber and a Selle Italia saddle on the steed, which has about two-inches of dust on it hanging on the wall since a certain 4-wheeled Italian takes up the spot next to it. I haven't talked bikes in awhile, I miss it. |
