I did buy it and it's fun but definitely underpowered. I'll keep it for when I go to the beach but I'm always on the lookout for a street registered RS125 or 250. I love it though because they're not common and have great style. It's light so it handles great.
A friend of mine is gonna get the new 999r Duc. Now that's a SWEET bike!'99 Rossi

Dominic,

are you thinking of having this bike for the U.S? If you are then are you OK with having it as a track bike only?

If I were to invest in a track aprilia, the RS250 would be the way to go. You'll find the little RS50 won't be much power at all.

My friend from college had an RS50 for track use and he got tired of it really quickly. He got the RS250 and he has it still four years later and swears by it.

I never rode it, but I have ridden the Mille regularly and then settled for a 996 Duc. Now I'm in a Yamaha R1. My first bike was a Honda CBR600 F3 (Miguel DuHamel; Smokin' Joe Replica).

No matter what the choice Aprilias are great machines. But if you really want a 2 stroke, be ready to smell like a fuel rag even after you get off the bike! :-)

I owned a 50cc aprilia futura while i lived in Italy for a while. It had an arrow exhaust and a bigger carb. I was able to get it to about 100kph if I remember correctly. Lots of fun!! Personally I would kick in the extra few grand and get a 600.

Anyone own any Aprilia's? I'm considering buying an RS50 GP Replica. Only 50cc but I will modify it to 70cc and get a little more power. Just enough to take thru the twisties and buzz around. Nothing like a 2 stroke screaming!
