Randy, I am a bit harsh on people that do that kind of thing. Keep the recording and tell the manager of the Honda dealership that you are going to report the employee to the police for "unauthorized use of a motor vehicle" if you are not pleased with any apology he may give. Also, make it very clear that the car is never going back to that dealership. I agree with the other posters that you should write to Honda of North America and complain. Your friend could also contact one of the local TV stations as they have consumer reporters that would love this type of story.

Randy, Have your friend take the issue all the way to the top, talk to the brass. Remember that in business your customers should come first. Your friend may get a survey in the mail on his repair. All of these reports are reviewed by most General Sales Managers & the dealership owners. This can be a critical event in a low CSI score for contention for Honda's Presidents Award. Most Honda dealers take this award very seriously depending on their past ranking. I hope this helps. Good luck. |

Honestly, not sure what he's expecting. At the least, an apology which the general manager refuses to do. Apparently, someone else came forth with poor experiences with the same dealership (same car, same issue w/out a tape recorder) and hopefully they'll get the media involved. I'm sure the media would eat that up. |

This is another bad deal but I'm sure it happens all the time. What is your friend expecting... beyond a tank of gas or dinner, what does he feel the dealership should do for him? |

Looking for suggestions or options for a friend of mine. He took his S2000 to a dealership for a TSB on the spark plugs (recall on the gasket/plugs to prevent from backing out). Well, my friend accidentally left his dictation recorder in the car. Now, he has a recording of a dealer employee taking his car to the store. Recorded V-TEC and redlining all the way back to the dealership. 35 miles added to the car. The general manager blew my friend off and only offered dinner or a tank of gas. Keep in mind, my friend isn't a high school, college kid or anything of the like. Actually he's a dentist and quite professional. But with this evidence in his hand, what would you do? And what do you think the service department/dealership could do to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance! |
