If FCA membership is required, I might not participate. I do not now nor have I ever felt like FCA membership did a thing for me. If we're going to race as Ferrari owners/fans, what difference does club membership make? If some starving student wants to join us, he has to pony up for an FCA fee first? I think that ruins the spirit of what we're doing. |

I think your plan is good for everything. I would suggest on membership that you require it by your third race. Especially since we're not too far away from having a budget for South Central and then eventually DFW. I think you might be able to negotiate $10 a race if we do it 12 times next year. The SCCA rate is $10 a race. Collect $35 like we were paying and use the $5 for trophies, awards, and to start our DFW treasury (we might just send it to the South Central treasury if we don't want our own). |

There's still 2 events in the 2002 series (see http://www.strahan.org/FCA/ ), but we need to start thinking about 2003. First, is anyone interested in continuing this next year? So far, we've had good turnout and it seems like people are having fun, so I hope the answer is yes. Second, how should it be organized? Based on what I/we have learned this year, I propose the following: 2 series, a Spring series that runs from January through June, and a Fall series that runs July through December. This allows those who just have bad luck or who join late still have at least 1 full series to compete. 2nd, a monthly schedule. If we run it once a month, then we can keep our current points scheme with only minor mods. Currently, you can miss 1/3 of the season and still be in competition. With a 6 race series, you could miss 2 months and still have a full score card. The Tuesday evenings seems to be working well. I propose we keep it there. To avoid clashing with Christmas/Thanksgiving, I would suggest the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm. We need to bump the costs up just enough to cover trophies for next season. It won't be much, maybe $2 per person per event. Lastly, it's been proposed that people actually be required to join the FCA to gain series points (though not to win event trophies). Thoughts on this? I'm undecided myself, especially as I haven't renewed my membership Questions or comments, post them here. If you have questions about the current series, please see the link above. I've tried to be as clear as I can, but I would be happy to explain further. |
